Though Atlanta United’s season may have come and gone, the MLS Cup Playoffs are still rolling full force – and so are episodes of Scarves and Spikes! Go check out the channel via the links below to catch up on any content you may have missed, but be sure to watch this most recent episode as we approach the Conference Finals this weekend. Fun fact, you may hear part of Marcelo Balboa’s soccer origin story involving the 1986 World Cup.
Marcelo Balboa – USMNT legend, member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame, former Colorado Rapids player, and match analyst for Apple TV/MLS – joined Tyler and Sydney Wednesday to chat about the beautiful game. Marcelo shared his thoughts on the overall season, the playoffs, any surprises throughout the year, Atlanta’s roster, and some outstanding stories about how he fell in love with the game as a kid. As someone who helped establish MLS during its infancy, he also discussed the similarities and differences between what those OG’s – and David Beckham – did back in the 90’s and early 2000’s and what Lionel Messi is doing to the league now.
Also, not that anyone is asking, but Tommy is up on the playoff predictions by getting all four semi-final picks correct. Unfortunately for him, he was sick for this show and therefore unable to defend himself against various allegations by Tyler and Sydney. Shame.
Plenty of ways for you to follow the conversation both before, during, and after the show!
