It was a win, but based on some of the comments in the Atlanta United locker room after its 2-0 victory over Orlando City, things are far from a finished product – especially with a shorthanded group (including Stian Gregersen, who was added to the list of unavailable players on Tuesday) heading north of the border to face Toronto FC. That said, it’s three points nonetheless.
How did you rate Atlanta United after the victory? Here are our Community Player Ratings — compiled by averaging up the rating you gave each individual player:
Your Man of the Match: Giorgos Giakoumakis – 8.67
It wasn’t as convincing as last week, but GG again takes your Man of the Match honors thanks to his 9th-minute assist of Saba Lobjanidze’s opener and his strike from distance to double Atlanta’s advantage in the 2nd half.
While just over 18 percent of our participants rated Giakomakis a 10 (giving him the highest percentage of 10 ratings), 42.6 percent gave him a 9. Lobjanidze received the 2nd-highest percentage of both 10s (8.1 percent) and 9s (27.8 percent).
The lowest-rated player? Thiago Almada. The highest rating he received was a 7 (from 4.9 percent of our participants), but the most common rating was a 5 (39 percent) which dragged his average score down. Certainly a tough day at the office for Atlanta’s No. 10, who undoubtedly wished he’d have gave a better account of himself on Sunday.

It’s curious to see how these ratings compare to the writers’ ratings. Muyumba was rated super high and I think there was even a comment about it being one of his best games or something because he was able to play a true 8, and yet he averaged a 5 by fans. Pineda probably has just permanent haters that rate him low even when he has a game with decent tactics and subs.
Honestly coach ratings shouldn’t fluctuate beyond the 6-8 range unless there is a noticeable change they make on the game. Putting together an odd lineup/tactics before the game or making weird subs or formation shifts that give up points. Putting out a well drilled formation designed to beat a specific opponent. Making shifts and subs during the game that turn a loss to a draw or win. I think his rating is spot on since this was just your run of the mill put out the best team and let them play with some odd sub choices like leaving Gregersen out there.
Muyumba occupied some really good spaces but just didnt always deliver, and was too slow on occasion.
I can appreciate Almada having a bit more creative license for high risk high reward plays, but it was a bit contagious in this match.
These…..look pretty good
Yeap, Almada’s worst showing
I think we did a slightly better job than the writers. Good job y’all!
