The First Reaction: Atlanta United 2-3 D.C. United

The Starting XI pose for a photo before the match against the D.C. United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA on Saturday May 11, 2024. (Photo by Mitch Martin/Atlanta United)

Well. Another match at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and another loss at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. This one probably could have been worse, to be honest, but it’s another downer of a night either way.

Atlanta United let the league’s best aerial threat hit them for a hat trick

It’s not like it was a surprise that Christian Benteke led the league in aerial duels. But Atlanta did little to account for D.C. United’s star striker, who torched them for a hat trick — all on headed goals. And he came awfully close to a fourth goal, too.

Just a poor defensive effort against one of the best No. 9s in the league and a player who, in a universe without Luis Suarez and Chicho Arango, is your Golden Boot leader.

No ideas

It’s just…too slow and too static for Atlanta United. Attacks don’t materialize quickly because players (for example, Tristan Muyumba) take too long to make decisions. Balls are fired down the field almost aimlessly at times and, inevitably, nothing happens. It’s frustrating to watch from the press box and, I’m sure, even more so for those in the stands. This team has too much talent to be playing this way — plain and simple.

Another home loss

Add it to the list: 2-1 against FC Cincinnati. 2-1 against Minnesota United. And now 3-2 against D.C. United.

I don’t know what else to say at this point. This place is supposed to be a fortress for this team. Some of the largest attendances in the world to watch a soccer match gather in Mercedes-Benz Stadium 17 times a year. Atlanta United had never lost three matches in a row in the building until Saturday.

It’s one thing to lose away from home. It’s another to not be able to get the job done in your own building. This was a massive missed opportunity with your next two matches on the road: at FC Cincinnati (the Supporters’ Shield holders) and Nashville SC (who Atlanta have yet to beat away since the Tennessee side’s inaugural match in 2020).

Things aren’t good. And they need to change quickly before this season spirals out of control completely.

I hear that Marcelo Gallardo will be free from Saudi Arabia soon. Uncle Arthur and Garth should give him a call.

chrisjonesatl

sampaoli is out there too

Rick Owen

I’m holding out for Jurgen Klopp 😂

chrisjonesatl

Well

If we’re reaching

let’s open up the Uncle Arthur checkbook for Thiago Motta…make him the highest paid manager in MLS

thatintownguy

No need to call Gallardo, I’m sure Garth is scouting the Hungarian 3rd division for our next manager…

thatintownguy

Clearly we were switched off so we could focus on the much more important competition – The U.S. Open Cup!!

We all know the answer to this problem, yet none of you want to admit it. None of you will face the true answer because it scares you. There is only one man on this entire planet who can pull us out of this pit. Just accept it. It will be okay. The King of the 4th Sub now has 5…what could possibly go wrong? It’s time to #HireJurgenKlinsmann !!!

I thought that he would make the US team a total success but i was terribly disappointed with his performance

WestCoastATLien

Interesting. I know it came to a crashing end, but I feel he was transformational for the fans and the foundations of US Soccer, even if it didnt always translate to improvement at the senior team level.

He was so passionate about playing the best teams in friendlies, and how we should expect to beat middle and lower tier European teams.

I feel his criticisms of the lower levels of US soccer also helped in some way indirectly pave the way for the development of our academy systems in a way that is more congruent with the rest of the world.

Again, it all fell apart a little as a coach, but I give him some credit for his ambition alone, which seems to indirectly have contributed to the ascendancy of the USMNT over Mexico.

While I think highly of him and his overall influence on US Soccer, I think he’s be a horrible choice for Atlanta United. Like a weird mix of the worst qualities of FdB and Pineda.

Some interesting comments here on what went wrong on Saturday on the MLS official website from writer Matthew Doyle:
https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/atlanta-s-regression-cincinnati-fill-their-biggest-need-more-from-matchday-13

The AU-DCU match is first in the article and note the graphic near the bottom of that part of the article, before he gets to the other matches. There was a very deliberate attempt by DC to attack on their right vs Wiley and Mosquera. I’d expect a lot more of that in the next match vs Cincinnati, but Nashville doesn’t seem to be doing anything right at this time, so they might not try that kind of attack when we play them.

schyoo

I don’t think Mosquera will start on Wednesday unless Silva has a set back

JosefBetterThanCarlos

Yeah he nails it on the head there.

I wish you guys would log off

The curse of FDB how do you get fired when you fill the trophy case? Also it’s nothing wrong with GP or how we play the problem are the players

No pressure from the bench so they play like they are safe win or lose…no pro/rel and 18 teams make the playoffs

Why push

You fake ultras love running coaches off after a couple losses lol. Please stop it

Read Dax McCarty comments the problem is the the ego in the locker room not from the touchline

You fake ultras love to pile on with hashtag and dry sarcasm

Also please list the coaches interested in our project?

Take a lap.

chrisjonesatl

I love the ultra as reference to European football when Pineda wouldn’t have lasted half as long for any European club

Tim

True. All MLS teams lose more than they win because there is no promotion and relegation. You nailed it. You really know your football!

Robpar

Sick and tired of hearing the prom/releg argument. European teams are trying to embrace the mls model creating a super league. It didn’t fly recently but the large teams want it. It’s just a question of time. Prom/releg would be a recipe for disaster with teams failing regularly, like they do in SA. It’s a romantic idea that sounds good but a better model would be to add capable financial teams, slowly and let the league grow.

Tim

I guarantee you if they were to start a brand new league with brand new teams in Europe there would be no such thing as promotion and relegation.

JosefBetterThanCarlos

Ultra = ultra-patient? We gave him the benefit of the doubt his first part season here, because we knew there would be growing pains. 2022 was an insane injury year and the roster wasnt good, so we gave him a pass there too. 2023 was pretty good overall considering we were still roster building, so we gave him a pass for the constant inability to hold a lead.

This year there is no pass. We have a well above average roster, reasonably low injuries (with serviceable depth across the board), and continued best-in-league support. But we’ve flopped titanically this year.

Cutting him loose half a season before end of contract is not “running coaches off after a couple losses” lol.

You can have your opinions, you can disagree, but you can also keep your weird, ill-founded condescension to yourself.

WhichWayRay

Not a couple of losses.. at least a couple of seasons AND this one. Same thing just different verse. Nothing has changed.

Players don’t care about Pro/Rel. They just jump ship from the Relegated teams to a better club at the first chance they get.

Because you are getting paid too? Or you sit. Not sure why Coaches don’t just sit players that aren’t preforming. Almada don’t get the hype not producing here’s some pine for you.

See above try seasons.

Ego taking over in the locker room is a Coach issue. See the trend here?

augoat

Because there are no facts or numbers to back that argument at this point in time.

RightWing

Actually – these are fake ultras.

Before each game my spouse and I do a “musical tarot” based on what the shuffler plays. Ominous list before last night’s game:
Gimme Danger
Our Truth
The Show Must Go On
Sugar, We’re Goin Down
Love Will Tear Us Apart
Flight of Icarus
Death or Glory
Heartache Tonight
Under Pressure

augoat

Under Pressure must show up a lot. Any team remotely capable of running a high press looks great against us whenever they do it.

Tim

First, let me start by saying Pineda is a great man and a wonderful representation of our team and our city, but…

Oh, wait, that was just what you had to write before saying something about firing Mark Richt? Oh, my bad. Sorry.

For all involved, it’s time for a change. Give Pineda a fresh start somewhere. Maybe Mexico or a lower league here or Central America. Another head coaching gig if he can get it. Let him step back and apply the lessons here and start his ascension back to the top.

We get a new voice, new eyes, new expectations. Maybe someone who can get these players’ attention and remind them that nothing is a given, even if you are Almada, that you have to work hard every day.

Whatever it is, this is not a big club anymore, by any stretch. We’ve been bad way more than we’ve been good. It’s almost embarrassing to have that old star on our jerseys, like we’re hanging on to glory days gone by, like the old boxer who can’t quit the game and keeps getting clobbered. This club had shown me nothing since COVID that says “we aspire to be the best, to change the way an MLS team is looked at around the world.” Now we’re “top four finish in conference because that means… I don’t know, something. Right?”

Clueless Joe

For me, apathy is starting to set in.

dmanatunga

Welcome to the club! Sadly, just like United, there is no winning here.

bananatoes

I didn’t used to be on the Pineda out train but everything seems disjointed. Our possession style doesn’t work well when the wing backs aren’t connecting well with the wingers. Muyumba and Slisz are not good if they are ever in possession in the offensive third. Mosquera can’t dribble or pass. I just don’t see Pineda ever moving off his formation and tactic preference. As many other people noted we play so slow to keep possession the defenses we play against have lots of time to shift and move. We only look violently aggressive in the last 15 minutes when we are often losing. I don’t know – it just is painful to watch. I plan my Saturdays to watch the game but now I am asking myself “ why bother ? “

WestCoastATLien

One thing that really hit me yesterday was just how poor Wiley is at dealing with most defensive situations. I feel like we have always perceived him as a good offensive wing back and a mediocre defender. I now think he is a massive liability that when combined with Mosquera on the wing creates a huge dead weight that prevents our team from functioning.

Speaking of Mosquera, I think his dribbling attempts yesterday were some of the worst I’ve ever seen out of a first division player. Its not like he was requiring top notch defensive plays out of the other team. He just kinda trips over himself and takes a big touch into the defender’s shins.

augoat

Mosquera is so frustrating. He can get open almost at will and can win balls in space with ease. Then it’s a shit show. Slow dribbling into traffic as the defense resets. Zero vision, either. He had one decent cross last night on probably 10-11 times with the ball out wide in attack. He can’t start. Neither can Wolff.

This doesn’t excuse pineda, though, the whole plan sucks

Bluto

Wiley is better when he returns from National Team duties. Similar from others when they return from their respective national teams.

WhichWayRay

Seems that this is more evidence that our players would benefit from a different coach/coaching staff then?

WestCoastATLien

I think Mosquera’s deficiencies are beyond the realm of something a coach can fix.

Im genuinely not sure on Wiley. He seems like a LW thats not quite good enough to play LW.

WhichWayRay

I think a big thing with Wiley is that he is only 19. He has some growing to do physically, mentality, emotionally, and maturity wise. There is tons of upsides and flashes of greatness. Just needs to grow and mature. Might be he just needs to play winger.

Mosquera not sure honestly. Sometimes I think we’d benefit from playing two forwards. GG plus a speedster.

chrisjonesatl

I don’t blame Wiley. Pineda has Wiley dropping into a 3 man back line and Lennon pinching in….which might be the worst way to use both players.

I understand what he’s trying to do. If Slisz drops between the CB’s, then Muyumba and Almada are central and transitioning the ball forward. And, he wants Almada on top of the box / next to GG and Lennon. But there are better ways to attain that goal…..although, given the way he is performing, perhaps dropping deeper and connecting is a better use for Almada.

schyoo

I think if Mosquera was going to start, they should have put him on the RW and flip Saba to LW, which would have helped with defensive inefficiency with both Mosquera and Wiley. Not that Saba is any better, but he is better than Mosquera

marcelo

Dear Atlantistas: you may have seen something about the horrible floods in my home state, the worst ever. The climate crisis is bringing disaster closer to all of us. Right now, both Inter, and Gremio have their stadiums, and facilities underwater, and football has come to a stop. My home state is relatively rich, with a good economy, the government is helping a lot, the entire country has mobilized, and things will improve, at least until the next flood.
Even though we are all involved (I live in a neighboring state, and have some refugees in my house), there is still some time to check on where football is being played, and life is more normal. Sorry about your game, though not surprised, as you know. I hope change comes soon, and Atlanta recovers. Differently from you I don´t think you have a good roster, quite the opposite. The change has to be bigger. BUT, once you have a really good coach, he will take care of everything, including roster changes.
We all have to adjust to reality. I hope Atlanta FC does, I hope my state, city, and country also do take the climate crisis a LOT more seriously. The last time we had a flood was in 1941. We had one less serious in 2023, and this now. We all have been warned, we know what to do, and it is just time for action, in whatever area we want things to improve. All the best, and let´s move forward.

greggtsch

Good luck with your flooding and clean up. Thanks for helping house some refugees! Those types of problems make Atlanta United’s issues seem rightfully trivial.

marcelo

Football is always larger than life. But we need to respond to the immediate issues, and change our concepts of normality.
And, of course, I am doing what everyone else is – receiving people from the flooded areas until it is safe to go back. If sports teach us anything, it is the importance of teamwork.
So, I hope your state has good safety systems, and I hope Atlanta United fixes its system.

ATLNino

Thanks Marcelo. Best wishes to you and all those dealing with the floods.

marcelo

Thanks. We will get through this. So will your club.

ebertera

When his tenure is mercifully all set and done, Pineda will go down as the worst head coach in the entire history of Atlanta United. And it’s not even close.

Gatorsnake

I think coaches that allow water will always be ahead of coaches that don’t allow water. But he certainly won’t be on anyone’s list of all time greats.

theoriginalzontar

“Hold my beer” says Stephen Glass, actually the worst manager in the entire history of AU. And THAT is not even close. I get why people don’t like Pineda, but he is certainly a lot less terrible than Glass was. And if someone felt really strongly that Heinze was actually the worst manager ever here, they’d have a case. Heinze did manage to kill the offense in a way nobody expected.

JosefBetterThanCarlos

At least Glass gave us entertainment gold over the empty stadium mics in a 2020 season that was going to be abysmal probably no matter what.

augoat

Glass was also just an interim coach, no one is really grading those guys on the same scale or with the same expectations as a full-time hire. He was never really expected to do any more than keep the seat warm as they tried to fix the roster (but I think they made it worse). That roster was a mess. Josef got hurt, then Pity got sold, Moreno came in late in the season as a little sliver of hope. The season’s leading goal scorers were Jon Gallagher (4) and Adam Jahn (3). Brooks Lennon was the leading G+A man with 5 total…

The only attacking players we had that logged at least 1000 min (about half of the 23-game season) were Barco and Jahn, just barely getting over the number. Gallagher was just outside the limit with 979, but then it’s a big drop off. Anyway, the midfield and attack was mostly a mess.

Mia San Atl

Looking at this objectively, the coaches ranked from worst to first are:

Heinze
Glass
Valentino
Pineda
De Boer
Martino

Heinze takes the bottom slot since 2 of his 4 wins were 1-0 wins in the first round of the Champions League and he never really took advantage of the Benz bump. Valentino and Glass is a coin flip but Glass had more games in charge. Assuming we lose away to Cincinnati, this season for Pineda would actually be as bad as Heinze, Glass, and Valentino. De Boer is surprisingly close to Tata on stats alone and if not for a Josef PK miss, may have ended up with more trophies. All said and done, we need a coach that can at least get us 1.5 PPG, and that would still only put them as our 3rd best coach.

chrisjonesatl

I know we’re all suddenly looking longingly at the results from 2019, but it’s important to bear in mind that 2019 was an all star team. You had Tito, Remedi, Vazquez, Meram and Parkhurst…on the bench.

JosefBetterThanCarlos

Wasn’t our stint with Valentino as interim our highest PPG stretch out of any coach? I’d put him at 2, or 3 at least.

Mia San Atl

It depends on who you credit the wins on MD 15 and 16 that year to; Pineda was technically the coach but Valentino may have been on the sideline. So it’s somewhere between 1 and 1.6 PPG, which at best puts him behind De Boer

T. Brian Nix

“…before the season spirals out of control”
?????
The “spiral” you referred to began the moment this organization decided to hire a career assistant to perform head coaching duties. The leagues largest attendance, second largest payroll, seventeenth most value club in world – and Blank decides to browse the isles of the coaching flea market to buy a leader!
Idiot!!!!!

Colt42

I think the idea at the time was “MLS is unique, and it takes someone who knows MLS to successfully coach in MLS”. There might be some truth to this, but Tata showed that the learning curve need not be 3+ years. Anyhow, I am sick and tired of Pineda’s “system”. It’s predictable and, frankly, dreadful to watch. Last night I noticed again how we started out the game in control but slowly ceded control to the other team. DC adjusted, we did not–or the adjustments we did make were ineffective. The FO needs to admit that Pineda is in over his head. It’s not personal. It’s not doing him or the team any good to keep stumbling along like this. His resume is actually getting worse the longer this goes.

JosefBetterThanCarlos

I think at the time, Pineda was the right hire. We had been burning through coaches at a ridiculous rate (like > 1 change per season for a few years) and needed some stability. I think for the years he has been here, he has been an ok choice. He is a very average coach, who can bring a lockerroom together, which is something we also needed. During a rebuild period where we changed up the FO and overhauled the roster/philosophy, a not-great coach isn’t super noticeable. I was happy with our performances last year overall, and the year before wasn’t good but I could live with it because of the 10000 injuries we had.

But now, our reputation as a club to manage is mostly repaired and he’s the weakest link. We need a better coach if we want to sustain being a top team.

WestCoastATLien

Agreed, and would also just add that it feels like the league as a whole is improving more quickly than we are.

Dominating the flow of the game and not getting results is one thing, but getting completely outclassed by a perennial mid table DC United team is another.

It makes me wonder if the clubs entire model is broken. Feels like the balance is tipped too far in favor of profiting off of player development at the expense of winning.

Klich and Benteke are both 33. Cant help but wonder if we had, say Ben Davies and Marco Reus instead of Wiley and Mosquera. Granted, those might be a bit ambitious, but food for thought nonetheless.

chrisjonesatl

Your first sentence is the most important. You had TFC, the Galaxy and Sounders when we came in….and a bunch of crap. Then LAFC and Atlanta United raised the bar, and everyone else followed. They figured out your could spend just a little bit more money and win games.

We have not yet found the next angle to glean an advantage. We tried the U22 thing, but that blew up in our face.

I like the GG signing. But the replacements for Almada and the open DP spot need to be stars. Almiron level players (or better) in their prime…..the only question is, why would they choose Atlanta?

dmanatunga

I have been negative on Pineda since the end of the first half season he coached.

But the assistant argument has always been silly to me. Willfried Nancy and Pat Noonan were both assistants that have had the huge success that we have begging for since 2020.

To me, the problem has always been who has been hiring these coaches than whatever pedigrees they have.

chrisjonesatl

In reality we should have dropped Pineda and backed up the truck for Nancy when word broke he was leaving Montreal.

dmanatunga

This is hindsight is 20/20 for me, but I hundred percent agree.

S0ccerF@n87

MBS used to be a place where teams didn’t look forward to playing except for when the Falcons were having games. However, with the way ATL UTD has been playing in recent years and this past stretch going back to winless April onward with each loss/draw the only thing we are doing is building the confidence of other teams around the league when they look on their schedule and see they have a trip to MBS while sliding down further in the standings at the same time which never bodes well.

Last edited 1 year ago by S0ccerF@n87
JosefBetterThanCarlos

I only caught the 2nd half, because I forgot to turn the game on. Which is probably an indictment of the state of the team given my obsession with soccer and Atlanta United.

Our penalty was soft. Saba’s goal was lucky. While I think with Stian or Williams we would have guarded Benteke better, it doesn’t matter. They scored 3 goals, we deserved 0 and got lucky to keep it a close game. Pushing Almada to the wing and playing Dax at CAM until Silva could come on actually kinda worked, and we had another dimension with Silva on the field, but still didn’t have teeth. Guzan was probably our MOTM, and we conceded 3.

#PinedaOut There is no reason to wait, this is the best time to make a change. Maybe the players will salvage a couple points from the next matches if they’re trying to impress a potential new coach, the cosch can have input into summer signings, and we can advance to the next USOC round without a coach honestly. We have nothing to lose right now, but in a month that window will be gone.

flash

I feel the scoreline is very misleading. One fluke own goal and the other was a (in my opinion) very soft penalty. Also Guzan have 2-3 very good saves. Could have easily been 1-5.

“We should be good but we’re not.” I think this has been the sentiment every year since 2019. This team is still broken. It’s incredibly frustrating to watch. We’ve got a bunch of tough games coming up and I don’t see us improving anytime soon.

Robpar

Oof, same coach, same result. Not much else to say

Andrew W

As long as we the fans continue to tolerate mediocrity nothing will change

Andrew W

I didn’t even bother watching the match, and I definitely can’t find a reason to go sit in my season seat, which I renewed this year against my better judgement.

Robpar

Going to Nashville next week, now wondering why…

S0ccerF@n87

Same here!

Tim

Same. And booked non-refundable Airbnb on way to last night’s debacle. It’s a great venue and we probably will have fun, but I don’t expect to like the result.

greggtsch

Nashville has a very nice stadium. It’s not in a great location, and parking is pretty shitty, but the stadium itself is pretty nice.

chrisjonesatl

1245 central game time is rough on the travel plans

Robpar

Super nice venue. Great bar drinks. Great seats just about from anywhere. We’ll be on the goal end this time

chrisjonesatl

I’ve heard it’s super expensive…we’re gonna eat before.

Robpar

Well, its more than the Benz but the food and drink quality is much higher

chrisjonesatl

Yeah but I’d rather just go to Prince’s and then go to the game….especially if it might be a pouring from the skies

Jaz

We don’t have a coach who will capitalize on the strengths of this team.

-If we know that Almada is our “best” player, then why are we not going to him?

-If we know that Bendteke is the best air threat, then why is Wiley allowed to leave his man open for every cross?

Poor coaching continues to be our issue! We have talent, we just don’t have an identity!

Last edited 1 year ago by Jaz
Robpar

You know I used to think this way but watching many other teams, I think we overestimate our roster. The differences are minimal between the top 10-12 teams in each conference. The major differentiation is coaching; especially tactics. DC outplayed and Outcoached us, just like many other top 10 teams

Jaz

Agree 100%!

I don’t think our coach does a good job with adjusting during the game. He may develop a plan to start the game, but afterwards, not very effective in reading and understanding how to counter the opponents game.

Southern_Azzurri

This is exactly the issue. He starts with a plan and has no idea how to adjust if it does not work.

Rick Owen

Based on Pinedas comments a few weeks ago “what else can I do, it’s on the players”, I think that’s showing a coach without ability to adjust.

JosefBetterThanCarlos

I really think we have a top 4 roster in the East. Miami is #1 by a decent margin, and Cincy/Columbus are probably better, but we have one of the best rosters in the league still. The margins are always thin in a salary cap league though. But I agree, the biggest contributing factor to MLS success might be coaching. I think of guys like Schmetzer, Nancy, Arena, Tata, etc. who generally succeed no matter where they are.

greggtsch

I disagree on having a top 4 roster. While several of our players (Almada, GG, Lennon, Slisz come to mind) could start on several teams. I don’t think any of them would start on any or even almost any team. There is at least one player better than them at every position. The rest of the roster could start on a few teams or only Atlanta.

augoat

We play too damn slow. The few times we looked good in build up we’re playing very quickly on the counter.

Our set piece defending continues to be awful. This roster is too good to be struggling this much.

S0ccerF@n87

Agreed…..we were at our best and most competitive when we played free and loose and had opposing teams defenses on their heels which used to often times lead to an avalanche of goals for us which would often times overwhelm teams.

thatintownguy

Sure, set piece defending is bad, but at least it’s balanced out by set piece offense also being bad. When was the last time we even got a head to a corner kick or free kick? Let alone a shot on frame?

RightWing

‘…before the season spirals out of control’. LOL. That shipped already sailed my friend. ‘Needed change’ was a LONG time ago. Too bad nobody in charge wants to change, because it would be them!

augoat

Eh, when Lagerway fired Sigi Schmid in 2016, Seattle’s start was about this bad. They went on to win the Cup under Schmetzer, who replaced Schmid. It’s not totally lost this year but something has to change.

Tim

We don’t have a Schmetzer lying around.

We don’t.

augoat

Garth’s job is to find him. Or if you prefer, we can just keep on this current path…

theoriginalzontar

Those who expect Garth to be an agent of salvation here are going to be roundly disappointed.

RightWing

Well that’s good to know! Hope Garth sees the path forward 🙂

COPA America starts on June 20th with many participating players likely to be called up for the June window from June 3 – 11. That means Almada and Abram will likely have about 5 matches with us before both are gone for a while (and potentially for good).

If we choose to bring in a new coach, June and July will be a time when we are missing several players for UEFA Euros (Saba), Copa America (Almada, Abram, and maybe Fortune), and the Olympics (Almada & Wiley).

This year’s Summer Transfer Window is from July 18 to August 14. Things could look bleak before then and busy around then.

How many points do we have a chance at before the June FIFA window?

  • 15 May @ Cincinnati
  • 18 May @ Nashville
  • 21 May @ Charleston (US Open Cup)
  • 25 May v LAFC
  • 29 May @ Miami
  • 2 June v Charlotte

LOL – let’s hope!

Just1MorePlease

We likely won’t win any of our next 3, maybe not any of our next 6. By month’s end we will be in the 14 spot. This is worse than 2020 as there are expectations. I can’t believe fans will continue to go to MBS for this disaster of a team.

RightWing

At the end of the day, for fans, sports is entertainment. If there is no sense of hope or excitement, the fans (and money) will decline quickly. Even those that watch at home, if there isn’t an expectation of a chance to win (or be entertained), they will do something else with their valued time. If our FO doesn’t understand that concept (or are too selfish protecting their own salaries), then our club is doomed for failure.

I hope I’m wrong, but that is what I’m beginning to feel about our club – that our owner and FO cashed in on the first few years and abandoned us as fans. Prove me wrong!

Can someone give me an overview of the first half? I couldn’t watch, and when I hit “watch from start”, apple put me at 45+2.

Sure. We score. Great!!!! Minutes later, they score stupid, easy goal. Then they score again. Atlanta United.

Apple TV kinda sucks

I like it. I can watch all the other teams. Their audio could improve though

Based on the replay in the stadium, the corner that led to their 3rd goal was a bad call? Looked like a clear goal kick unless the stadium replay was misleading

It did appear that way. But it doesn’t really matter when THE WHOLE TEAM FORGETS TO MARK UP THE OPPOSING TEAM’S BEST PLAYER ALL NIGHT LONG.

Pineda out. It is time.
