Atlanta United’s match against Charlotte FC started well enough: a goal by Thiago Almada put the Five Stripes 1-0 to the good in the first half. Of course, things went downhill: an own goal and a second-half brace by Charlotte’s Liel Abada put Atlanta in a hole they couldn’t climb out. Less than 18 hours later, Gonzalo Pineda was out of a job.
It wasn’t as if Atlanta played poorly, per se, but numerous “little moments” — to quote Pineda — occured that essentially were a microcosm of his tenure. And the community player ratings (as they usually do) reflected massive discontent around the state of the team.
Man of the Match: Xande Silva
Silva will naturally pick up the higher ratings because he scored the goal, a pretty one at that, to put Atlanta back in the match after going down 3-1. Atlanta, though, couldn’t get any closer en route to a fifth straight home loss and the end of the Pineda era.

Marcelo!!!
I see that Atlanta United is rumored to be after one of your Gremio players!! Give us the scoop on him.

Just more blah.
This feels like a tough one to rate, because it was truly a tale of two “halves” (more like a team before an own goal and a team after). If you asked me to rate the first and second halves separately, almost every player would be probably two points higher.
