While Atlanta United’s first team gets set to face the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, Atlanta United Academy’s U-15 and U-16 squads will be at the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs and Showcase through June 23, while the U-19 side will begin their run in the 2024 UPSL spring playoffs in the Georgia regional.
Atlanta’s U-15s boasted an 11-4-3 record (36 points) in the East (South) Division during regular season play, qualifying for the playoffs by finishing top of their group at the MLS NEXT Flex qualifying event with a 2-1-0 record. Their first match is set for Saturday at 5:45 p.m. ET against New York Red Bulls U-15.
The U-16s qualified for the playoffs after finishing top of the Southeast Division with a 13-2-1 record (40 points) and will open against Orange County, California’s Strikers FC U-16 on Saturday at 12:15 p.m. ET. It’s a rematch of last year’s U-16 playoff final, which Atlanta won 3-1.
None of those two matches will be streamed, but MLS Season Pass will feature a pair of Round of 32 and Round of 16 matches plus six quarterfinals, along with all 8 semifinal and 4 final matches across all 4 age groups. If either Atlanta United team is eliminated within the first two rounds, they have the option to join playoff non-qualifiers in the MLS NEXT Cup Showcase.
Atlanta United U-19 squad, who finished with a 8-3-1 record during their spring regular season, will kick off their UPSL playoff quest against LaGrange, Georgia’s UMA FC at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground on Saturday night at 7:00 pm ET. A win puts Atlanta in the regional semifinal; if they win the regional, they will face the winner of the Mid-Atlantic regional in the UPSL Spring Naitional Playoffs on July 6 or 7.
