Had enough of Atlanta United yet? Despite playing their third match in eight days tonight, you might still be hungry for more after an inspired performance in the final fifteen minutes of Wednesday’s meeting against Inter Miami earned the Five Stripes a draw against the first place team in the Eastern Conference.
What version of the team will show up tonight at Red Bull Arena? Fans will be hoping it’s the one that twice overcame a deficit against the Herons and not the one that was played off their own turf by Nashville a week ago, prompting interim manager Rob Valentino to apologize to the fanbase in his postgame interview.
Atlanta United is all too familiar with Red Bull Arena, though, and the associated struggles that tend to come with playing there. All time, Atlanta is 0-5-2 when visiting the Red Bulls, and 2-10-4 all time. Their last visit to New Jersey ended in a dreadful 4-0 loss in June of 2023, and the two sides have yet to play this year. They’ll make up for it over the next few weeks, playing again in the Benz two weeks from now.
The Five Stripes will need to earn points, and fast, to climb out of their current eleventh place position and earn a top nine ticket to the postseason. To do so, they’ll certainly need another standout performance from Alexey Miranchuk, who got off the mark for the club with a spectacular equalizer from distance late on in the Miami match. The squad as a whole will need to fight through tired legs, as opposed to the opposition who went without a midweek match.
Kickoff from Red Bull Arena is set for your typical 7:40 PM ET start, with streaming coming from Apple TV with a subscription to MLS Season Pass. Radio coverage is provided in English on 92.9 The Game and in Spanish on La Mejor.

This game was literally a microcosm of the last few years.
Potential, frustration, amazement, hope, fear, hope again, and then justโฆ sigh. We canโt defend a lead for 6 mins in OT!?! Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory and solidifying mediocrity is our middle name. So close, yet so far away.
Even IF we make the playoffs, I donโt think we are going past the first round. Thatโs who we are and where we are this year.
Yโall โ
Tori Penso just Howevered RSL.
So much to fix. Need some really good off-season moves, starting with a good coach.
How am I to go to bed tonight?
Come on guys โฆ I was so happy about three minutes ago
JUST FREAKING GO FOR IT OUR FREAKING SEASON IS ON THE FREAKING LINE!!!!
Is that not a foul against Amador?
FFS. Clear that ball out, not back onto the pitch by Williams
Dang, I really had hope for some reason too…
For all the hate Mosquera has had this season: He may have just saved it!
AHHHHHHHH THANK YOU
Lol what just happened
That guy scored ??!?!! Unbelievable !!!
Mosquera delivers!!!!
Lol, someone is having fun
Holy crap, Guzan doesnโt always have good games, but when he does he really does
He has had one heck of a season
BIG DADDY BRAD
Guuuuuz
Yea, that’s a pen
Brad to save our season
Brad delivers
I’m starting to look towards the winter transfer window as if we make the playoffs, it’ll likely be short-lived. But further down the transfer list, I think it’s time to move on from Brooks. I know players have bad seasons, but recently, it seems teams are targeting him because he is such a liability defensively. But his offense hasn’t been making up for it as it usually does lately.
just don’t make the playoff and pick up the extra allocation money to spend in the winter transfer window
Oof. Hereโs hoping Thiare (and Reyes) are ok
good to see Brennan come on, but odd to pull Cobb
Cobb was a step slow in a number of attacks (Iโm assuming from match sharpness), so I can see the thought, but Brennan hasnโt been particularly visible yet.
Formation change.
I’m liking Miranchuk. He won’t carry the team on his back, so he needs a better supporting cast, but I think we could build a decent offense on top of Miranchuk and Lobjanidze.
Wait but who takes it? Alexy I’m assuming. And… THAT’S WHY YOU START JAMAL!!!
Bro guys I figured out why Lennon is so bad. Bro is a cow! He lying down on the floor eating grass!!! ๐
Makes sense. His defensive strategy is limited to covering grass instead of his mark.
Bro no Saba is hobbling bro. If he gets injured our season is officially over and we would be better off playing our u12’s in the academy.
Nashville was having a win drought: They won against us. Plus Mukthar scored and ended his drought
NYRB have a win drought and Vanzier has a scoring drought: And he scores against us.
I feel like we are the team that teams break their curses against. BRUHHH
I was just thinking the same thing
Stian just quit on that play. Looks checked out.
Accidentally tuned to MLS360 and Josef had a nice timed goal.
How can we have this many people back and still look so useless on defense? NYRB are breaking lines at will. This is horrendous.
Bradly GUUUZZZANNN. He is already having himself a game!!!
even though it is listed as a 5-3-2, it might turn more into a 3-4-1-2, assuming we are wanting Miranchuk to play a more CAM position
Looks like we are starting with a 5-3-2. At first I was a bit skeptical of that, but now, I think it actually may benefit us.
I just want to see more of the last 30 min energy – I hate Red Bulls.
I definitely agree with you on Fortune and Alexy. Furthermore, I think Alexy needs to play more as a cam rather than a ram or lam. How would like to see a lineup like this:
Guzan
Brooks Stian Derrick Amador
Sliz Fortune
Saba Alexy Brennen
Thiare
More of a 4-2-3-1 with Fortune as an 8 and Sliz as the 6.
Likewise. Maybe I’ll drink a couple redbulls to try and do a reverse jinx.
