According to Venezuelan reporter Mario Alberto Sánchez, former FC Cincinnati II and Orlando City B player Moisés Tablante could be Atlanta United 2’s first signing of the 2024-2025 offseason.

The 23-year-old Venezuelan would bring a great deal of versatility and experience to the left side of the 2s formation. He can play as a left wing, left-back, or midfielder. Playing mostly as a left-midfielder and left-back for FC Cincinnati II, Tablante scored three goals and added four assists in 1,467 minutes spread across 21 matches. When playing as a winger, he can be a primary playmaker for his side with the ability to create his own shot or lead the team in chances created. His best match of the season came against Chicago Fire II where he scored and assisted in a 5 – 0 blowout.

Tablante has been part of the MLS reserve league and academy system since 2017, playing 51 matches for Orlando City’s academy before signing with Orlando City B in 2019 when they were still playing for USL League 1. He played in their inaugural MLS NEXT Pro season before departing the club at the end of 2023.

Tablante would be the first piece in a comprehensive rebuild of the 2s after most of the squad was purged only a few weeks ago. While turnover rates may be higher in reserve leagues, this feels like a bit more of a reset for the roster. Considering the amount of experience Atlanta United’s coaches and staff likely have with Tablante, this could be a good fit. While academy standout Dom Chong Qui is expected to be the starting left-back for the 2s, Tablante could offer a great combination of competition, experience, and depth for what will likely be a very young team.
