After performing extremely well in the 2025 preseason with the first team, second-round SuperDraft pick Ronan Wynne has signed with Atlanta United 2 for the 2025 MLS NEXT PRO season. The 2s also signed former Inter Miami CF II defender Nyk Sessock. Both players have signed with ATL UTD 2 for the 2025 season with a club option for the 2026 season, adding even more experienced and affordable depth to Atlanta United’s right-back position.
Ronan Wynne is a two-time Summit League Defensive Player of the Year with the University of Denver and a member of the New Zealand U-23 youth national team in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Wynne, 23, started all but one of his 70 career games with the Pioneers, winning three Summit League Regular Season Championships in 2020, 2021, and 2022, and a Summit League Tournament Championship in 2021. In 2024, Wynne helped the Pioneers reach the NCAA College Cup for the first time in eight years.
The door appears to be open for Wynne to earn a promotion with Coach Deila and Chris Henderson both heaping praise on the young right-back. “That’s what we want to do with draft picks and guys who can contribute into the group,” Henderson said. “I think he’s going to get major minutes in with the second team, sign with the second team, and we’ll get a really good look at him.”
Sessock, 24, joins the 2s after spending the last two seasons with Inter Miami II, scoring two goals with eleven assists in 27 games. Sessock was a product of the Philadelphia Union Youth Development Academy and played his college soccer at the University of Pittsburgh alongside Atlanta United Homegrown defender Bryce Washington and Indiana University. As a Hoosier, Sessock started in 52 of 58 games played, leading the side to a Big Ten Regular Season Championship and Tournament Championship in 2020, and two NCAA National Championship appearances in 2020 and 2022.
ATL UTD 2’s regular season opens on Friday, March 7 at Fifth Third Stadium in Kennesaw, Georgia against New York Red Bulls II.

[…] an impressive preseason, Ronan Wynne will begin his professional career with Atlanta United 2. There is a lot to like about Wynne’s game. He is a smooth two-way right-back with a lot of […]
Wynne has looked good during preseason, so I can definitely see him maybe get some looks during the season.
I think the main thing holding him back from getting a first-team contract is his international status.
