Atlanta United signs Dominik Chong Qui to Homegrown contract

Atlanta United on Friday announced that Dominik Chong Qui has been signed to a first-team Homegrown Player contract through 2028, with an option for 2029. The 17-year-old signed for Atlanta United 2 out of the academy in December and was set to see his contract become a Homegrown deal on Jan. 1, 2026, before Friday’s move.

To make room for Chong Qui on the supplemental roster, Adyn Torres has been sent to the 2s on a season-long loan.

Chong Qui made his MLS debut against Charlotte FC on March 1 and saw his first MLS start on March 29 against New York City FC in place of an injured Pedro Amador, playing 58 minutes. Saturday marked the last of his four Short-Term Agreements, meaning that he’d spend the rest of the season with the 2s unless he signed a first-team contract.

But thanks to a strong preseason that impressed Ronny Deila — and due in part to some injuries in the Atlanta United ranks — his timeline has been accelerated.

I’ve got my first check for a total of thirteen thousand US dollars. I am so energized, this is whenever I first really acquired something. I will work much harder now and I can hardly hang tight for the following week’s installment. Go to the Home tab for more detail. I highly recommend everyone to apply………………. money63 . solar

Guessing Amador is still a no-go then? Feels like the acceleration is in part due to Amador.

well even if he was ready to go, I am assuming they are wanting depth available since they already have to deal with depth on the right side with Lennon and Hernandez coming off of injury

He was pretty bad Saturday, but he looked alright preseason and I’m sure he will grow.

Is Matt Edwards on the first team? They seem comparable.

schyoo

well, Chong Qui is 5 years younger than Edwards, so he has plenty of time to get stronger and better.

I guess we should have seen this coming after they basically burned his call up limit in the first month of the season. Hope he will continue to see additional time with the 2s to get some more experience.

I don’t understand how he can see “additional time with the 2s” if he is now on the first team roster. How does that work?

Homegrown players can play for the 2s. Will Reilly has already played a few matches as a homegrown player
