The more things change, the more they stay the same. For the third year in a row, Atlanta United will miss the Leagues Cup knockout stage after a 3-2 loss to Pumas UNAM in Orlando, with Wednesday’s match at Mercedes-Benz Stadium against Gonzalo Pineda and Atlas a meaningless one.
After Pumas converted a penalty, Atlanta did well to take a 2-1 lead behind an own goal and a Latte Lath go-ahead tally. But, unsurprisingly, the wheels came off in the second half.
