Atlanta United vs. Atlas: Takeaways as Atlanta finally win in Leagues Cup

Atlanta United delivered one of their most confident performances of the season as they routed Atlas 4-1 in Leagues Cup action on Wednesday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Atlanta knew going in that they’d miss out on the Leagues Cup, but they surged to a 3-0 first-half lead before tacking on a fourth in the second half. And in a season of lows, it was one of the more productive nights at the Benz in a while despite the result having no bearing on Atlanta’s tournament fate.

My biggest takeaway was who wasn’t on the field. I would let the offense start for a couple games and see what happens. MA and LL have both struggled this season and I think we should give them a couple games rest.

I note that Delia wasn’t on the sideline. I don’t consider this a coincidence. Danny Rohl left Sheffield Wednesday last week and would be an excellent replacement
