Atlanta United suffered a highly disappointing 3-1 loss to the Colorado Rapids on Saturday. Good news: they erased an early deficit. Bad news: not much else.

Let’s get to the player ratings – first mine, then an average of everyone that voted (almost 100 of you this time…thank you!). As a reminder, here’s the ratings scale:

  • 10 – world-class performance
  • 9 – elite performance
  • 6 – average
  • 5 – slightly below average
  • 3 – well below average
  • 1 – poor in every level

Man of the Match

Alexey Miranchuk

Staff rating: 6.5 | Community rating: 6.7

Another match, another goal for Miranchuk, and a really good one at that. Unfortunately, he was in the way of what should have been a tap-in for Tristan Muyumba and didn’t really have a consistent impact through all 90 minutes, so he gets knocked down a bit in my score.

Brad Guzan

Staff rating: 3.75 | Community rating: 2.7

It was probably one of Guzan’s worst games in some time. He got a hand to Rafael Navarro’s penalty but couldn’t ultimately make the save, while he surely should have done better with the third goal. Take nothing away from the club legend, but Saturday was another sign that the end may be near for him.

Ronald Hernandez

Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 5

Hernandez had some involvement in the attack, getting a couple of crosses in and combining with Almiron. He’s been quietly decent for Atlanta during his extended time in the XI.

Brooks Lennon

Staff rating: 5.25 | Community rating: 3.5

I feel like Brooks Lennon has been a little bit of a marked man for the fanbase (frankly, for good reason). I didn’t think he was terrible against the Rapids, to be honest, but still short of the standard he needed to set.

Stian Gregersen

Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 5.1

Gregersen, in his first full-match effort in a few months, was second to Enea Mihaj in defensive contributions (8). It’s good to see the Norwegian back at full fitness, but the question is if he can stay there.

Enea Mihaj

Staff rating: 6.25 | Community rating: 6.48

Mihaj led the team in defensive contributions (10) and clearances (8). Outside of a few moments, there hasn’t been a great deal to complain about regarding his play since coming to Atlanta.

Bartosz Slisz

Staff rating: 6 | Community rating: 5.26

We’re overdue for one of Bartek’s trademark bangers, but he continues to put in good performances in the midfield. I’ve enjoyed the growth he’s shown during his time here.

Saba Lobjanidze

Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 4.75

Outside of a goal in a meaningless contest against Atlas in Leagues Cup, we’ve been waiting for a match where everything just comes together for the Georgian international. Saturday against the Rapids wasn’t that night.

Miguel Almiron

Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 3.67

I’m fully appreciative of what Miggy has meant to this club and was excited to see him return. But we have to hold him to the same standard as we do everyone else. Simply put, while he shows spurts of the player we saw in 2017 and 2018, it’s just not been consistent enough.

Emmanuel Latte Lath

Staff rating: 5 | Community rating: 3.04

Another quiet night for Latte Lath. Atlanta United didn’t pay him to have quiet nights. Hopefully some time off in the offseason can help him refocus.

Substitutes

Juan Berrocal (58′)

Staff rating: 4.5 | Community rating: 2.6

Yikes. Not a great showing for Berrocal against Colorado as he conceded a penalty that Rafa Navarro converted and allowed a free kick in a very dangerous area. It’s very early to tell what his impact will be, but hopefully he shakes off what was a disappointing outing.

Luke Brennan (73′)

Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 5.7

Once again, Luke Brennen entered in the second half. And once again, he had a positive impact on the match, nearly creating a goal for Muyumba. We all know what happened next, though.

Tristan Muyumba (73′)

Staff rating: 5 | Community rating: 4.5

Muyumba’s place is probably as a second-half substitute since Atlanta has better options in the midfield. As mentioned, he nearly had a tap-in for a goal in a bid to make it 3-2 that came off the foot of Miranchuk.

Steven Alzate (73′)

Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 4.8

Decent showing for Alzate as he went just over 15 minutes plus stoppage time. How will he grow into the team as his integration into the lineup continues?

Nyk Sessock (90’+4′)

Staff rating: N/A | Community rating: N/A

Sessock wasn’t in long enough to have a measurable impact. No rating for him as a result.

Missed providing evaluation of Reilly…. That says all we need to know …

WestCoastATLien

I think we’re missing marks for Reilly.

Beyond that, probably good to skip over Deila too lol.

Mia San Atl

Must admit, I gave Brennan, Guz, and Hernandez a bonus point for actually acknowledging the away fans at the game.

Still no news about Lennon’s shoulder injury? Haven’t you guys been to the training ground this week or communicated with the team to ask about it?
