Atlanta United didn’t beat San Diego FC in the first-ever meeting between the two clubs. But it wasn’t a repeat of the previous week against the Columbus Crew, either.

Let’s get to the player ratings from a 1-1 draw against San Diego FC – first mine, then an average of everyone who voted. As a reminder, here’s the ratings scale:

  • 10 – world-class performance
  • 9 – elite performance
  • 6 – average
  • 5 – slightly below average
  • 3 – well below average
  • 1 – poor in every level

Man of the Match

Jayden Hibbert

Staff rating: 7.5 | Community rating: 8

Hibbert wasn’t the reason Atlanta gave up five goals to Columbus. His confidence didn’t seem shaken at all against San Diego, making a few key saves in the second half to limit the visitors to a single goal.

Pedro Amador

Staff rating: 5.75 | Community rating: 5.46

Amador gets docked for a poor afternoon crossing the ball (1 of 4) and for some wasteful shots from too far out. He needs to focus on what made him excel in 2024.

Juan Berrocal

Staff rating: 6.75 | Community rating: 6.42

Berrocal received his first start and rose to the occasion, erasing a handful of San Diego chances. He’s shown improvement since a pair of shaky performances to start his Atlanta United career.

Stian Gregersen

Staff rating: 6.75 | Community rating: 6.5

Ronny Deila said that Saturday against San Diego was the best that he’s seen Gregersen. A solid bounce-back performance for Stian after a disastrous team performance against the Crew. His ball to Thiare that led to the second-half penalty was terrific.

Ronald Hernandez

Staff rating: 6 | Community rating: 5.6

I’ve made my opinion clear about Hernandez numerous times. He’s never going to be mistaken for a Best XI right back, and Atlanta is better served finding a new option there for 2026. But he, like the rest of the back line, bounced back well from the Crew debacle.

Bartosz Slisz

Staff rating: 6 | Community rating: 6.15

Slisz continues to put in consistent performances at the 6 for Atlanta. He was tied with Steven Alzate in defensive contributions (7) and was solid in his return to the lineup after serving a yellow-card suspension.

Steven Alzate

Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 5.38

Alzate didn’t have a bad performance at all for Atlanta. But one lapse of concentration near his own box led to him being dispossessed and San Diego taking a 1-0 lead, so he gets a clear deduction for that mistake.

Miguel Almiron

Staff rating: 6.75 | Community rating: 6.80

One of Miggy’s better performances since returning to Atlanta United. He eventually got on the scoreboard thanks to his penalty, but was active in the attack in so many ways and could have ended the day with a hat trick.

Alexey Miranchuk

Staff rating: 5.6 | Community rating: 5.42

Miranchuk was credited with a couple of chances created on the afternoon. Other than that, we’re essentially back at square one for a player who added to his long list of underwhelming performances at the 10.

Saba Lobjanidze

Staff rating: 5.25 | Community rating: 4.5

This season can’t end soon enough for Saba, who’s a shell of the player he was in 2024. He provides little to no major influence in matches, and Saturday was a perfect example.

Jamal Thiare

Staff rating: 6.25 | Community rating: 6.46

Thiare didn’t score, but it wasn’t for lack of trying as he found himself with several opportunities to put the ball in the net. After unsuccessfully attempting to draw a penalty in the first half, he eventually did in the second half, which led to Almiron’s equalizer from the spot.

Brooks Lennon (75′)

Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 5.62

It was a quiet night for Lennon after coming in near the quarter-hour mark. He was credited with a pass into the final third but outside of that didn’t have a massive influence on the match, whether positive or negative.

Emmanuel Latte Lath (76′)

Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 4.3

Saturday was an opportunity for Latte Lath to stretch his legs a bit after missing several weeks with a hamstring injury. Overall, a full offseason to rest and refocus might be what he needs.

Luke Brennan (76′)

Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 5.2

The overall energy Brennan offers on the wing is better than what Saba’s been producing. It has not led to much in the attack, a piece of the puzzle that he has yet to truly figure out.

Tristan Muyumba (84′)

Staff rating: 5 | Community rating: 3.79

It’s tough to be hard on Muyumba after such a brief performance. But it’s abundantly clear that the midfield simply functions at a lower level when he’s on the pitch.
