Atlanta United on Tuesday announced that it has signed veteran winger Fafa Picault. It’s a one-year deal, with an option for June 2027.
Picault last played for Inter Miami, where he won the first MLS Cup of his career. He played primarily as a backup winger and had a decent season, posting 4g/1a in 752 minutes while playing in 20 matches and starting seven.
As a member of the Miami Fusion, Chris Henderson actually first came into contact with Picault two decades ago, a few years after the son of Haitian immigrants moved to South Florida from New York City.
“I first met Fafa two decades ago at a clinic for the Haitian community while I was playing for Miami Fusion,” Henderson said in a statement. “Just a kid at the time, his pace, quality, and joy for the game stood out. I followed his journey closely and worked to bring him to Inter Miami CF. Now, after winning MLS Cup this past season, it’s special for me to welcome him to Atlanta United.”
Picault primarily plays as a left winger. But he’s also been deployed as a right winger and center forward. On the international stage, he initially played for the United States before switching to Haiti in 2023. He last appeared in a match for them in September, playing 81 minutes in a 0-0 draw against Honduras in World Cup qualifying.

Definitely a good depth piece. Still curious if he was our “trialist”.
He wasn’t 😉
When can that tea be spill’t?
Do we have a timeline on when or if the team will announce who the trialist was? I did see that Brooks Lennon torn his Achilles while trialing for DC last week.
Oh man, feel bad for him. Young enough to come back, but he might have to go play ion a lower level league somewhere after rehab if he loses a step as a result.
Galarza, maybe? Would make sense that if we’re thinking of buying we might want to kick the tires…?
I’m pretty confident that it’s Ronaldo.
This seems like a pretty good move for a solid rotational player that brings veteran experience. He can start here and there and provide a boost to the attack off the bench. His G/90 over the last two years in that kind of role were the best of his career. I also like that he’s played some at RW and striker. I could see him getting minutes off the bench up top, or even a spot start or two there.
It still feels like we might be short a starting-caliber wing, but it’s also unclear how Tata is going to deploy Miranchuk, Miggy, and Saba in the starting lineup. It also feels like we need a RB and/or CDM still. Tomas Jacob seems likely to be our 6 to open the season, but that leaves RB a bit light in talent. I don’t hate Hernandez, but he just seems like a solid depth player to me. Maybe Edwards is ready for more minutes. He just seemed lost a lot of the time last year (which may not have been entirely his fault), but still showed some flashes now and again.
Solid depth signing.
