After a 1-0 win over Greece on Thursday — which featured Miguel Almirón starting and Matías Galarza coming off the bench — Paraguay heads to Lens, France, to face Morocco in the last of two pre-World Cup friendlies.
Morocco is currently eighth in the FIFA rankings and, well, let’s just say the Atlas Lions have been in the headlines quite a bit over the past few months. In January’s AFCON final, they went down 1-0 to Senegal in the 94th minute. Moments later, though, they were awarded a penalty, leading Senegal to leave the pitch in protest. Weeks later, Morocco was awarded the AFCON trophy as Senegal was ruled to have forfeited the match after their actions.
As far as the World Cup is concerned, the big question is how the Atlas Lions will fare this summer after a shocking run to the semifinals in 2022. This will be a nice test for La Albirroja in the run-up to the tournament and should settle any remaining questions Gustavo Alfaro has about his summer roster.

looks like Almiron really didn’t do much other than pick up a yellow.
