Another Atlanta United win — this time a 3-1 victory over CF Montréal — means another feel-good edition of player ratings. Be warned: there was one, well, controversial number from the community despite his contributions to the match.

As a reminder, here’s the rating scale:

  • 10 – world-class performance
  • 9 – elite performance
  • 6 – average
  • 5 – slightly below average
  • 3 – well below average
  • 1 – poor in every level

Lucas Hoyos

Barely at fault for Matty Longstaff’s goal in the sixth minute. Still very shaky with the ball at his feet, but a good showing between the sticks other than that.

Staff rating: 6 | Community rating: 5

Pedro Amador

Was credited with a secondary assist on Atlanta’s first goal, as he combined with Alexey Miranchuk on a great one-two sequence that ultimately sprung Saba.

Staff rating: 6.25 | Community rating: 6.28

Stian Gregersen

Gregersen, once again, was a rock in Atlanta United’s center back pairing. He’s bounced back well from a frustrating, injury-filled 2025.

Staff rating: 6.75 | Community rating: 6.38

Enea Mihaj

Just a silly decision by Mihaj that led directly to Montréal’s goal. It’s a shame, because I thought he was decent outside of that.

Staff rating: 5.25 | Community rating: 5.05

Tomás Jacob

Not Jacob’s best showing. He struggled on the right side and was bailed out by the offside flag several times.

Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 6.42

Matías Galarza

Let a great scoring chance inside the Montréal box go begging. Other than that, yet another strong performance for Galarza.

Staff rating: 6.25 | Community rating: 6.47

Cooper Sanchez

What more can be said about Cooper Sanchez that hasn’t been said already? His pressure directly contributed to Latte Lath’s eventual match-winner in first-half stoppage time and Saba’s insurance goal in the second half.

Staff rating: 7 | Community rating: 7.6

Tristan Muyumba

Muyumba’s best performance of the season. He was all over the pitch, making tackle after tackle to snuff out Montréal possession. Here’s his heatmap:

Tristan Muyumba heatmap

Staff rating: 7 | Community rating: 6.8

Alexey Miranchuk

All that was missing from Miranchuk’s stellar night was a goal. He’s more confident and composed under Tata Martino than he was under his two previous head coaches.

Staff rating: 7.5 | Community rating: 7.61

Saba Lobjanidze (Man of the Match)

This was the performance we’ve been waiting for from Saba for ages. Hopefully this is the start of a bounce-back season.

Staff rating: 8.25 | Community rating: 8.23

Emmanuel Latte Lath

Latte Lath is finally back on the scoresheet after a frustrating last few weeks. With four matches to go until the World Cup break, we’ll see if he can round into form.

Note: OK, I have to call out the SnS community here. One voter gave Latte Lath a “1”, which means “poor on every level.” He also received two 2s and a 3…on a night where he scored a goal. I get he’s polarizing, and I get he’s had a bad season. But give him credit where it’s due.

Staff rating: 6.75 | Community rating: 5.9

Fafa Picault (64’)

Took a knock and lasted just 12 minutes. Hopefully it’s minor and doesn’t have him off the field for long.

No rating. Limited involvement in the match.

Jay Fortune (64’)

Solid shift for Fortune. While he’s starter quality for this team, he’s good for a half-hour to help close matches out.

Staff rating: 6 | Community rating: 6

Matt Edwards (72′)

Edwards has played his way to Atlanta’s second RB behind Tomás Jacob. Hopefully he’s able to get on the field more throughout the 2026 season.

Staff rating: 6 | Community rating: 6

Juan Berrocal (72′)

It’s clear that Atlanta’s best CB duo is Mihaj and Gregersen. Berrocal’s days are numbered, but good to see him help kill off the clock.

Staff rating: 6 | Community rating: 5.75

Luke Brennan (76′)

Brennan was called on in a pinch to relieve Fafa Picault. Another Homegrown who can hopefully see more playing time in 2026.

Staff rating: 6 | Community rating: 5.85

Tata Martino

Tata pulled the right strings once more. The question is how Miguel Almiron fits into the lineup when he returns from injury. One can hope that Tata doesn’t upset the apple cart too much.

Staff rating: 7.5 | Community rating: 7.05

I thought Alexei (offense) and Muyumba (defense) were why we won. ELL was served an almost impossible miss and the rest of the game he was not a threat , a focus , or even an after thought on offense. Hoyos still jacks around with the ball at his feet too long and his outlet service still with have 2-3 dangerous (to us) poor passes. I am encouraged and will take the 3 game winning streak – it has been a loooong time since I could say that.

Gravity shack

ELL had a typically poor match outside of the goal. Every single striker in the league should have finished that, and he did. Other than that he made a number of poor runs, and he continues to get bodied off of every ball that comes to him when there’s a defender around. He has literally NO hold up play and loses every 50/50 ball. I gave him a 5 (I think) which was a full higher than he would have gotten without the goal. Sanchez and Saba were motm for me.

Good for Saba to get a brace, but MOTM? I mean come on y’all… thats a bit of a stretch. But all is good. Hope he continues these types of results.

😂. I gave LL a “1”…he did nothing outside of let Mira’s pass bounce off his foot and was so close to goal it had no where else to go. I do not feel bad about that rating when Cooper freakin Sanchez looks amazing out there after having to clean his room and finish homework before his mom drops him off at the benz. Latte is the new Mosquera but way more expensive.

I can understand the “1” and I can understand the editor’s take here too. He, in general, gets a “1” as a $25M striker. But he also should get at least a “5” or so for THIS match which is what the rating is for. It’s meant to be in relation to the match, not in aggregate.

That said, you could probably say the same for Hoyos since he’s also got a fan bias around his head too.

Either way, in sports you have good teams and bad teams. We faced a bad team and showed we were the better team. What’s worse is going up against a bad team and showing yourself as being worse. Giving credit where credit is due, Alexey, Saba and Cooper were all on one that night and i’m happy to see it. Muyumba has truly come into form as that 6 too…i’m loving seeing how aggressive he gets to put pressure on the other team.

Colt42

FWIW, ELL is rated 45th out of 65 strikers on FotMob. He would get a 1 in general as a $250k striker as well.

SD2ATL

Right, but these are match rankings, not overall/aggregate/general rankings.

Colt42

I agree with you. I’m just shocked at how *objectively* poor he has been for us. He’s below average for MLS strikers, so even if Blank were paying him a more modest sum, we would probably still groan when we see him in the lineup. The strange thing is, his stats really weren’t all that great before he came here. I just don’t get why ATL UTD pursued him at all.

Flash

I’m fully expecting to get my hopes up before the break and then the next game back we look like garbage. I hope I’m wrong.
