The USMNT may be preparing to co-host a World Cup that begins in just over two weeks, but the USWNT will spend June in the country that will welcome 32 countries next summer for the Women’s World Cup. On Wednesday, head coach Emma Hayes announced the 26-player June training camp roster that will face Brazil in a pair of friendlies on June 6 and 9. Twenty-three of the 26 camp players will ultimately make up the final roster.
As is usually the case, Hayes’s selections includes a Metro Atlanta flair. Marietta’s Emily Sonnett, Roswell’s Riley Jackson, and Alpharetta’s Croix Bethune are among the group, along with other mainstays like Lindsey Heaps, Rose Lavelle, and Mallory Swanson. Swanson, in fact, could be in line for her first appearance in an international match since 2024, as she stepped away in 2025 to welcome her first child.
Sonnett’s next cap with the USWNT will be her 117th, while Bethune has been capped on seven previous occasions. Jackson, meanwhile, has one international appearance to her credit, starting against Chile on January 27.
Wednesday’s announcement comes exactly five months before the start of the Concacaf W Championship in Texas, which will determine the four teams from the federation who will directly qualify for the Women’s World Cup. While the U.S. will be favored to win the continental competition, June’s matches against Brazil allow it to make sure it’s clicking on all cylinders heading into 2027.
