Jay Fortune leaves Atlanta United’s match against Nashville SC with apparent muscle injury

Jay Fortune

Jay Fortune suffered what appeared to be a leg muscle injury inside of the first 10 minutes of Atlanta United’s road match at Nashville SC on Friday night.

In the 8th minute, the homegrown midfielder motioned to the Atlanta bench and sat down on the pitch, indicating that he wouldn’t be able to continue. He was replaced by Will Reilly in the 11th minute.

It’s a crushing blow for Fortune, whose 2025 season was cut short after he suffered a mid-foot sprain in his left foot with Trinidad and Tobago during the Gold Cup in late June. He returned to the Atlanta lineup on April 4 as a substitute against the Columbus Crew. Through 10 appearances (five starts) this year, Fortune has a pair of goals.

We’ll update this story as we learn more, but hopefully this is not a long-term situation and that Fortune is able to return to the pitch as quickly as possible.
