The Five Stripes take their recent win and head up north to Minnesota tonight for an 8:30 pm kickoff against their expansion siblings from 2017, Minnesota United.
The two sides used to see each other way more often, but now it’s a rarity of a cross-conference matchup. Minnesota, 9th in the West, hasn’t had much to brag about recently, with their last MLS win coming back in May. They’ve gone 0-3-5 since, and the excitement from the beginning of the year surrounding James Rodriguez (who left the club after three months ahead of the World Cup) has all fizzled out.
It’s a perfect time for a trip up to the Twin Cities… especially with the highs in the 70s today.
Kickoff from Allianz Field, which is crazily Atlanta’s first time playing there, is set for 8:30 pm. You can tune in on Apple TV, 92.9 The Game, or La Mejor.
Elsewhere, the news about Jay Fortune’s latest injury is beyond unfortunate. The midfielder just recently returned to training before injuring his opposite hamstring, sidlining him for at least another three weeks.
