Atlanta United announced the loan of Homegrown midfielder Adyn Torres to Estonia’s FC Nomme United for the duration of 2026.
The once-promising midfield prospect has struggled to break through as other academy products and youth imports like Adrian Gill have claimed the majority of competitive minutes in the central midfield. A couple of seasons ago, Torres trained in Portugal with a couple of professional sides there, but no loan or transfer ever materialized. Since then, he has either been outright loaned to the 2s or just parked there. His relegation to a reserve role on the reserve team is bad for his development and bad for the team that invested time, resources, and a supplemental roster spot in his development. The club has tested Torres at right-back and centerback to expand his positional versatility beyond his traditional central and holding midfield roles, but that has not led to more minutes with Atlanta United 2 or a single minute with the first team. Torres needs playing time, and likely needs a new permanent home.
This loan is not a permanent transfer, but it gives Torres a chance to show what he can do overseas, while retaining some flexibility for Atlanta United over his future. His contract runs through the end of the 2027 season with an option for 2028, so there is still some time for him, but with the wealth of potential homegrowns emerging from the 2s, college, and the academy, those 11 Supplemental Roster spots are in high demand. With Cooper Sanchez, Jay Fortune (when healthy), Adrian Gill, Mauricio Amaro (the new U-22 signing), Will Reilly, and 2s players Andrew Jardines and DD Sibrian seemingly ahead of Torres in the young central midfielder depth chart, it is hard to see where Torres will fit, even after this 4-month loan.
We can only hope that this is the change of scenery that Torres needs to find a beneficial outcome for his career and for the club. Best of luck, Adyn!

Good lord, if you don’t want the guy with Atlanta anymore, just release him. Sending the guy to Estonia is crazy.
