Another home match, another home loss for the Five Stripes. A 2-3 loss to the Chicago marks the first time the Fire have won an MLS match in the Benz, and leaves Atlanta United hanging on to the precipice of playoff elimination by a single fingernail with their tenth home loss this year.
Miguel Almiron found Tomas Jacob in only the fourth minute to take a 1-0 lead, but it all came crashing down as Chicago equalized later in the half, then scored two more goals in the opening 15 minutes of the second half thanks to some blunderous mistakes. A well scored header from Breel Embolo brought things closer, but it would not be enough to overcome the deficit.
