Scarves and Spikes sat down Wednesday evening during this long Leagues Cup break to notch another episode in the books – sin Atlanta United. Tyler, Tommy, and Sydney took advantage of the Five Stripes’ hiatus to dive into the craziness that has been this 2023 Leagues Cup. Philadelphia Union and Jim Curtin are back to talking some smack, LAFC laid it out on Real Salt Lake, and Charlotte is moving forward to face Lionel Messi and Inter Miami.
The guys also provided updates on the USWNT after they were bounced from the World Cup, and chatted about Rob Usry’s outstanding article over on Dirty South Soccer about the state of Atlanta United and their newfound transfer strategies. Atlanta still has over a week to prepare for Seattle and integrate the new signings into the team. They’ll be playing a closed-door scrimmage against St. Louis FC in the coming days to ramp the fitness back up and get the likes of Saba Lobjanidze, Xande Silva, and Jamal Thiaré involved with the rest of the squad.
