It’s been a while since we’ve talked about a win around these parts. Perhaps Atlanta United should do it more often?

Let’s get to the player ratings from a 1-0 victory over Nashville SC – first mine, then an average of everyone that voted. As a reminder, here’s the ratings scale:

  • 10 – world-class performance
  • 9 – elite performance
  • 6 – average
  • 5 – slightly below average
  • 3 – well below average
  • 1 – poor in every level

Man of the Match

Jayden Hibbert

Staff rating: 8.5 | Community rating: 8.7

Hibbert was always going to be MotM for this one. He finished with seven saves, including two big stops on Hany Mukhtar just past the hour mark. He looked poised, confident, and appeared as if the moment wasn’t too big for him.

Pedro Amador

Staff rating: 6.5 | Community rating: 6.55

A good showing for Amador in this one. He’s not shown the attacking prowess he had last year, but has taken on a more defensive role.

Enea Mihaj

Staff rating: 7 | Community rating: 7.1

Mihaj continues to be a great return on investment for Atlanta United. It’s his third straight 90-minute effort, and in the short time he’s been here, he’s brought a sense of calm and organization to the backline. His passing ability is also a plus.

Stian Gregersen

Staff rating: 7 | Community rating: 7.3

Really good to see Stian back healthy. As he and Mihaj continue to build chemistry in the backline, they’ll continue to elevate their performances for 2026 and beyond.

Ronald Hernandez

Staff rating: 7.75 | Community rating: 7.74

Just Ronald’s third goal of his professional career. The man was due. Outside of that, another solid effort from a player who’s been stringing a number of them together. He’ll never be a Best XI outside back, but he doesn’t need to be.

Bartosz Slisz

Staff rating: 6.75 | Community rating: 6.97

Another good shift for Slisz, who had the third-most touches for Atlanta (61). I mentioned it on the match reaction podcast (Go watch! Or listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or iHeart!) that I can’t remember the last time I’ve come away from a match thinking that Slisz has had an absolute stinker.

Steven Alzate

Staff rating: 7.5 | Community rating: 7.88

I mean, he got an assist on his first MLS start. Tough to argue with that. He also won all three of his tackles and finished 5 for 6 in ground duels. I’m really excited to see how the Slisz-Alzate midfield pairing continues to gel.

Alexey Miranchuk

Staff rating: 6 | Community rating: 6.14

He had a great pass ahead to Jamal Thiare in first-half stoppage time as Atlanta made a bid to make it 2-0. Outside of that, he was relatively quiet on the evening, finishing 27-of-36 in passing and creating just two chances.

Luke Brennan

Staff rating: 6 | Community rating: 5.5

While he didn’t have as much of an imprint on the match as he would have hoped, Luke was good against Nashville. The key thing for him is to continue to improve and make the most of these opportunities.

Miguel Almiron

Staff rating: 5.75 | Community rating: 5.48

Another night where Almiron failed to put his stamp on the match. That’s not to say he was awful, but for the pricetag to bring him back, he needs to be much better.

Jamal Thiare

Staff rating: 5.75 | Community rating: 5.97

He did have a heavy touch at midfield that led to Sam Surridge’s 1v1 opportunity, but other than that, not a terrible night. His lone opportunity came deep in first-half stoppage time that was a bit too easy for Joe Willis to stop.

Saba Lobjanidze (61′)

Staff rating: 6 | Community rating: 5.62

Saba was decent in the time he was out there. He had an opportunity with just under a quarter-hour to go that was from a bad angle and didn’t trouble Willis.

Tristan Muyumba (61′)

Staff rating: 5.75 | Community rating: 5.1

The midfield is vastly different with Muyumba in it. He came on against Nashville only because Mihaj isn’t yet 90 minutes fit.

Juan Berrocal (72′)

Staff rating: 6.25 | Community rating: 5.78

Berrocal has had one really bad match for Atlanta, against Colorado. Since then, he’s been a good option off the bench.

Brooks Lennon (86′)

Staff rating: 6 | Community rating: 5.09

Normally, I would say after a brief stint like Lennon’s that it was too short for him to make a measurable impact, but he helped the defense lock down the win.

Cayman Togashi (86′)

Staff and community rating: N/A

Very little measurable impact for Togashi in this one.

The one thing that I was baffled on was why it took so long to pull Jamal…it was clear he was getting beat up and exhausted all the while Cayman is there ready to go but he waited so long to sub him out.

Deila has consistently made poor decisions substitution decisions. You are 100% right. Jamal was looking rough for a solid 10 minutes plus before he was subbed off. We had already made subs around 70′ to pull Stian off, why not Jamal at the same time. Not to mention Jamal was playing on a yellow.
