Luke Brennan was involved in a scary incident on Thursday. The 20-year-old Atlanta United winger was hospitalized with multiple injuries after being struck by a vehicle while out for a run. The AJC’s Doug Roberson reported on X on Thursday afternoon that Brennan fractured his cheekbone and sustained a concussion, but should be back by preseason.
Brennan posted an Instagram story of him in the hospital after the accident, saying that he has “fully recovered” and is “doing well.” (Warning: the picture’s not for the squeamish)
We don’t know all the details of what happened, but this could have been much worse for Brennan. Fortunately, he came out with relatively minor injuries and should be ready to go by the time the 2026 preseason rolls around.
We wish the best for Luke as he rests and recovers over the next number of weeks.

Depends on what traffic is like near his house. There are houses nearby directly on major roads, which if he’s somewhere like that yeah be really careful going on a run, but if it’s more like my close loop, single entrance neighborhood, there’s no reason he shouldn’t feel safe enough from vehicles to take a run.
Damn that looks rough. Got to be a heavy concussion if he hit his head so hard he broke a bone and bled that much. Really hope he recovers well and doesn’t have to deal with long term aftermath.

Brennan’s story makes it look a whole lot worse than just a concussion and fractured cheekbone. Glad he didn’t break his leg or anything else.
