Who to watch at the 2025 MLS College Showcase

With just two matches to go in the College Cup and the MLS offseason kicking into gear, 45 of the nationโ€™s top college prospects available in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft gathered in Mesa, Arizona, for the MLS College Showcase. Among the clubs watching closely will be Atlanta United, who have the second overall pick in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft.

This is an impressive group of players, among the best showcases we have seen in years. Among them are three freshmen who could all sign Generation Adidas contracts ahead of the draft. With Atlanta United picking second in each round, the club could end up with at least a couple players on this list. These 45 players are not the only ones available in the upcoming draft. That number will likely be a couple of hundred, with players from the College Cup finalists included, and a variety of other available prospects.

A few options for the first round include the University of Virginia’s star forward Nick Simmonds, Clemson’s maestro Ransford Gyan, Washington’s wily veteran 10 Riche Aman, and Clemson’s raw but high upside freshman midfield destroyer Kwaku Agyabeng. Each of these players could work their way onto the field quickly for any MLS team. We will do a deeper dive into each in our upcoming mock draft early next week.

Some potential later-round options are Stanford’s long-time starting left-back Palmer Bank and small-school stars like Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year Daniel D’Ippolito, Big South Conference Offensive Player of the Year Daniel Lugo, and Big South Midfielder of the Year Jefferson Amaya. We will also do a deep dive into these guys and others who are not at the showcase in our upcoming mock draft.

In the meantime, I recommend you check out the highlights of many of these players. They all have a chance of becoming top players in MLS NEXT Pro next season, and several will be able to immediately make the jump to MLS.
