Atlanta United are bad. That much is obvious. How bad? Well, (*gestures to their record this season and last*) that bad. It’s painfully clear that this is going to be the norm until we get to the transfer window. Even Tata Martino himself has said that he didn’t anticipate things being quite this bad when he returned to the club.
But here we are. Up next is a contest with the New England Revolution, a team with a first-year head coach in Marko Mitrovic that is set on changing the locker room culture. (And he’s done a decent job of it, too.)
Here’s what you need to know about Atlanta United’s match vs. the New England Revolution as they look to pick up their long-awaited second win of the season.

The scoop on the New England Revolution
Last result: W 2-1 vs. Columbus Crew
The Revs’ last match saw them come back from 1-0 down thanks to Dor Turgeman’s goal just before the hour mark and Carles Gil’s go-ahead kick from the spot in the 85th minute. This is a much different, more driven (and more inspired) team than the one Caleb Porter led for just under two seasons following Bruce Arena’s resignation.
One quick note: New England is on a six-match losing streak away from Gillette Stadium. Atlanta’s won just once at home in 12 previous opportunities. Something’s got to give.

Atlanta United vs. New England Revolution injuries
Miguel Almirรณn (knee) remains out, along with Steven Alzate (adductor) and Sergio Santos (calf). Tomรกs Jacob is questionable; of course, he went down with what initially looked to be a fairly serious injury against Nashville before eventually seeing the match out.
Leo Campana and Matt Polster are both out with lower-body injuries. Brayan Ceballos and Jackson Yueill, also both designated as having lower-body injuries, are questionable.
Atlanta United’s projected lineup against the New England Revolution (4-4-2, but tactically more of a 4-3-3)

GK: Lucas Hoyos
D: Elรญas Bรกez, Enea Mihaj, Stian Gregersen, Ronald Hernรกndez
M: Matรญas Galarza, Cooper Sanchez, Tristan Muyumba, Jay Fortune
F: Alexey Miranchuk (C), Emmanuel Latte Lath
Score prediction: Atlanta United 0-1 New England Revolution
New England’s win streak will keep on rolling for at least one more match. The Revs will only need one goal to leave town with a win and keep Atlanta United’s miserable run going.

1-2 NE
Two teams going in opposite directions. AUs home losing streak is more predictive than NE’s road losing streak.
I liked it better when we were the most hated team in MLS.
