Pedro Amador, it’s been fun
Pedro Amador’s transfer to Hapoel Be’er Sheva yesterday wasn’t surprising at all, especially with Elías Báez brought in as a U22 signing at left back and with a contract set to end at the end of the season (albeit with two option years). Instead of letting him simply walk for free, Atlanta was able to get a transfer fee, small as it was, for a player it’d signed as a free agent two years ago.
The question now turns into who Atlanta plays behind Baéz at the LB spot. What I think will happen? Matt Edwards should see time off the bench a little more often. What could happen? ATL UTD 2’s Dominik Chong Qui, who was forced into action with the first team last year, may get his number called more frequently.
As for Pedro, all the best to him on his new chapter.
MLS beats Liga MX in the All-Star Game
I was in Charlotte last night for the MLS All-Star Game, where MLS scored three unanswered (two from Son Heung-min) to take a 4-1 lead before holding on to a 4-3 victory as Liga MX made it interesting. I know there’s some varying opinions about it, but it was fun, and I hope the league can find some ways to tweak the format in future years. (Who know? There could be an Atlanta United All-Star in 2027 as well.)
