Good morning, y’all! Jackson here to fill you in on what you need to know for your Tuesday morning in this edition of the Scarves and Spikes Daily Newsletter.
It seems like the transfer of River Plate midfielder Giuliano Galoppo to Atlanta United is nearing completion, as the Argentine outlet TyC Sports reported yesterday that the player has travelled to the United States to finalize the deal. Galoppo is said to join the Five Stripes on a ten month loan deal, which would keep him through the upcoming sprint season in what is currently a crowded position for the team, depth wise.
The deal is also said to have a $6 million purchase option, should Atlanta want to keep the player. Galoppo would be the second River Plate signing of the window after Paulo Diaz. If you had any doubts as to where Tata Martino is directing the front office to go for players, there you go. Look out for this signing to be officially announced within the next day or two.
With the MLS transfer window closing tomorrow, be on the lookout for teams to make their final pushes to add to (or subtract from) their roster for the remainder of the season. Atlanta has been active thus far, but will there be more moves to be made? We know Atlanta is sorely lacking in wingers for the first team, but is now the time to go out and get one without “panic buying”? Keep an eye out, and stay tuned for more deadline day shenanigans.
