The clock is ticking down on the MLS transfer window, which closes at midnight tonight. The actual roster freeze isn’t until October 9th, but for any deals made between clubs, for this season, it’s now or never.
Atlanta United is expected to annouce the signing of Giuliano Galoppo on loan from River Plate, as reporting out of South America last had the midfielder traveling to Atlanta to complete the move, which will be through next spring’s sprint season. No word on any other moves, though, which would have to pop up pretty suddenly to happen at this point.
Around the rest of the league, Colorado have signed striker Sayed Abu Farkhi in an apparent move ahead of Rafael Navarro’s transfer to St. Louis City. The Israeli forward will occupy a U-22 spot on the team.
In Chicago, the Fire have made a pair of additions in signing Norwegian defender Andreas Hanche-Olsen and Georgian midfielder Anzor Mekvabishvili as they gear up for this season’s final push.
Houston midfielder Jack McGlynn has officially completed a move to EFL Championship side Stoke City for a reported fee of $5.5 million. It’s Houston’s second biggest fee for an outgoing player, but leaved them with a big hole to fill as far as attacking playmakers. Stoke have also aquired Luca Bombino from San Diego as another MLS player headed to the EFL Championship.
Daniel Gazdag is on the move once again within the league, now joining the New England Revolution from the Columbus Crew. This move comes after the Crew used one of their buyouts to terminate their contract with the Hungarian midfielder, who will not be a DP with the Revs. Columbus does open a DP spot, though, opening doors for the current last place team in the East.
Will Atlanta make any moves of the sort? Seems unlikely at this point, but stay tuned throughout the day as any potential moves come down to the wire around MLS.
