Good morning and happy Thursday, y’all! Jackson here this morning to bring you today’s newsletter.
Ian Joy of Apple TV joined us last night on the Scarves and Spikes Podcast as we continue preparing for Atlanta United’s match this upcoming weekend against NYCFC. Big questions remain as to what the lineup will look like, with seven players called up for international duty, and a muscle injury for Tomas Jacob likely sidelining him as well. It shapes up to be a big test of depth for the Five Stripes on Saturday night if they are to keep the positive results coming.
The 2s will host their first playoff match in team history on October 16th against their chosen opponent, CT United, giving the team the opportunity to utilize short term call-ups to the first team for some players. MLS Next Pro Golden Boot winner Arif Kovac should have one available call-up/appearance remaining, and Playmaker of the Year Cameron Dunbar could be an exciting add. Winger Enzo Dovlo has made one appearance through short-term callups, and could be in line for a second.
Stay tuned as we count down the days to Saturday night’s 7:40 pm kickoff in the Benz.
