Our wonderful city of Atlanta continues to shine as a beacon of soccer in the United States. FIFA announced today that Mercedes-Benz Stadium will host a total of six matches in the revised, 2025 edition of the Club World Cup. A handful of the world’s biggest clubs, plus Inter Miami, will descend into the home of Atlanta United starting in mid June as they look to take home the grandest trophy (technically) in world club soccer.
The tournament kicks off down in Miami at the Hard Rock Stadium on June 14th, 2025 where Lionel Messi and Inter Miami will welcome Al Ahly FC to a stadium that’s actually in Miami…or at least kind of. Afterwards, the matches are spread out across the country, including the first of the six in Atlanta on June 16th between Chelsea and Club Leon.

Here is the full schedule for the matches in Mercedes-Benz Stadium:
- June 16 – Chelsea vs. Club Leon
- June 19 – Inter Miami vs. FC Porto
- June 22 – Manchester City vs. Al Ain FC
- Round of 16 matches on June 29 and July 1
- Quarterfinal match on July 5
Dietmar Exler, Mercedes-Benz Stadium’s Chief Operating Officer, said the following about Atlanta’s participation in the largest club football event in history: “Atlanta and Mercedes-Benz Stadium were made to host the world’s biggest events. We are eager to again bring our innovative venue, unique fan experience, and southern hospitality to a global stage. We look forward to welcoming the players, coaches, staff, and their fans to Atlanta and giving them a world-class experience.”
The Benz has already hosted some high profile soccer matches in the past year as the city prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including 2024’s Copa America and SheBelieves Cup, plus some international friendlies and 2023’s Premier League Summer Series.
“We are honored that FIFA has once again placed its trust in Atlanta and invited us to be a part of this new era for the FIFA Club World Cup,” said Atlanta Sports Council and Atlanta World Cup Host Committee President Dan Corso. “This is a testament to the hard work and dedication put forth by our Host Committee. With the tournament just one year ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026, we are thrilled for our region to showcase its love of the sport and cement itself as an international soccer hub.”

Is the Benz going to have real grass? It would be a good rehearsal for the World Cup.
Amazing my Blues will be at the Benz in a competitive match. Hopefully, tickets will not make me get a second mortgage.
So do the Galaxy get to swap spots with Inter Miami, since they are actual champions of something?
Nope, FIFA already hopped on the Messi Money Machine. Galaxy can qualify for the 2029 one if they win CONCACAF championship next year
