The Five Stripes have new threads for the 2025 season as the club unveils the fifth primary kit in its history: The Connector.
The club announced the jersey on Friday with a promotional video on its social media platforms. It is now available for purchase online at the MLS Store or in person at the club’s team store at Atlantic Station.
According to a club press release, the name of the kit is a reference to the iconic Downtown Connector, the concurrent section of Interstates 75 and 85 that runs through the heart of Atlanta, and represents the tight connection between the club and the city. The kit conserves the five stripes look that has come to characterize Atlanta United while adding a new twist.
“The Connector is a tribute to the incredible bond between our fans, our club and our city,” said Skate Noftsinger, Atlanta United Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer. “Our Club Kit is the heartbeat of our identity, and The Connector is a powerful evolution of our 5-Stripes tradition. We’re proud to unveil a design that not only celebrates Atlanta but also reinforces our connection with the community as we prepare for another exciting chapter in our history.”

The release states that the five red and black stripes on the front represent the electric atmosphere of Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and the gold trim running down the sides that links the shirt to the shorts represents the club’s connection with the community.
The shirt includes several other interesting details. The words “Atlanta United” feature prominently behind the neck, ensuring anyone can tell from the front and the back which club the kit represents.

The bottom of the shirt features a jock tag displaying a globe with the open petals of Mercedes-Benz Stadium’s roof, representing Atlanta’s status as the epicenter of soccer in North America, especially as it welcomes the world next year as a host site for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

For the ninth year in a row, American Family Insurance features prominently as the main jersey sponsor for first team kits. On friday it was also announced that Emory Healthcare would debut as a sleeve sponsor for the first team kits and the primary sponsor for Atlanta United 2 kits during the 2025 season.

“American Family Insurance has been pleased to partner with Atlanta United as the kit sponsor since 2017 and this year’s ‘The Connector’ kit aligns perfectly with our shared values of building strong connections in our communities,” said Sherina Smith, American Family Insurance chief marketing officer. “American Family’s mission is to inspire protect and restore dreams, and we hope this kit serves as a visual reminder that connections can power dreams and reach far beyond the pitch.”

With a new look for 2025, the Five Stripes kick off their MLS regular season on Feb. 22 by hosting CF Montreal at Mercedes-Benz Stadium at 7:30 PM ET. You can watch all Atlanta United games this season with an MLS Season Pass subscription.

Associating the stripes with the Downtown Connector is dumb; no one thinks of the connector in positive terms. However, the stripes represent something else every single time Adidas releases a new primary kit, so I don’t really care what their silly justification is so long as the kit has five red and black stripes.
I prefer the 17s kit, but this one looks good and I’ll probably buy it.
I think it is always good to put out a reminder to the American-biased sports teams that this is not a home kit jersey, but the primary kit jersey. Soccer teams don’t do home/away jerseys, they do primary/alternate jerseys. It just happens that primary is usually wore during home matches
It’s kinda boring, but in a “don’t mess with perfection” kind of way. I liked last year’s home kit better, but this isn’t bad.
As an aside, the required adidas base kit kind of makes all the jerseys look the same. Us and Montreal are basically the same, Austin and Miami, and then all of Nashville, DC, Chicago, Minnesota, St. Louis, Dallas, Red Bull, NE, and LAFC all look the same. Even most of the “unique ones” are basically just the same thing with a different edgy graphic printed on it: Colorado, Houston, Seattle, LAG, NYC, Columbus, Philly, Orlando.
It looks exactly like last years to me
Black sleeves and back instead of red
I really wonder if anyone actually from Atlanta was involved in the name selection. The Connector has so many negative connotations locally, from the way it divided neighborhoods to the constant congestion. If the interstate Connector ever comes up in conversation its because something bad happened on it. I like the kit well enough but the name choice is very much a head scratcher.
calling it the connector is cheesy but i really like the kit.
i own the OG and king peach. nothing else has even been tempting, and 9 stripes made me queasy 🙂
i will buy this one. and i get to put miggy on the back!!! bliss.
Piedmont got booted off the sleeve by a rival ig? Emory is an awful organization. Piedmont isn’t perfect either but I hate Piedmont less
The swoop is dumb, but I’ll take it so long as we have a (mostly) OG 5-Stripe primary kit.
home kit should ALWAYS be 5 stripes imo. mess with the road and 3rd kits if you want but leave the home kit alone. minor tweaks here and there is all.
agreed!
