Trinity Rodman, Atlanta’s Croix Bethune, Hal Hershfelt and Riley Jackson part of USWNT January roster

Trinity Rodman will be part of the USWNT‘s January training camp roster as it prepares to face Paraguay and Chile in a pair of friendlies in California, U.S. Soccer announced on Thursday.

Rodman, who is currently without a club after being with the Washington Spirit since 2021, is at the center of the NWSL’s new High Impact Player rule, created (in part) to keep Rodman stateside instead of seeking potentially more lucrative opportunities overseas. Despite battling an MCL sprain throughout the latter portion of 2025, the 23-year-old is set to report to camp.

Though Emma Hayes said that she and Rodman haven’t discussed the latter’s contract status, she noted that it’s a “fresh start” for those named to January’s roster.

“We all know that whoever’s selected into this squad, it’s the very beginning of preseason for most of them. So I think for Trin to come back into the fold now, the starting point is the same for everyone,” USWNT head coach Emma Hayes said. “I know she has been working hard in the offseason just to keep developing her resiliency and her robustness.”

While Rodman is the headliner for what’s mostly a younger group, three Atlanta-area products are on the 26-player roster: Alpharetta’s Croix Bethune, Marietta’s Hal Hershfelt, and Roswell’s Riley Jackson.

Bethune tore her meniscus in August 2024 while throwing out the first pitch at a Washington Nationals game, which wiped out the remainder of a promising debut season in NWSL. After posting 5g/10a as a rookie, she recorded 3g/2a in 2025.

“One of the things I spoke to her about is … to be competitive, you’ve got to stay healthy on a regular basis. I think she’s done that,” Hayes said. “Two, she’s gotta find consistency in her performance. I think from year one to year two, you can see that her touches in the final third and final passes remained pretty consistent, but her assists and goals have declined.

“And I think that’s something she has to still keep working at and finding consistency at, and she knows that.”

The USWNT faces Paraguay on January 24 at Dignity Health Sports Park before playing Chile at Harder Stadium on the campus of UC Santa Barbara three days later.
