The wait is over! Atlanta United officially released its newest kit, dubbed the “Resurgens Kit,” at an event at the Pullman Yards venue on Saturday evening. The blue and gold kit will serve as the Five Stripes’ away/secondary kit for the 2024 and 2025 seasons (while also providing a clean fashion statement for fellow Atlanta professional athletes, namely Bogdan Bogdanovic).
The kit itself draws inspiration from the City of Atlanta’s flag, seal, motto, and history, specifically that of Atlanta’s history of rising from the ashes. The phoenix that envelops the front has a tribal feel and meanders from the chest around the left side and shoulder. The full kit itself is complete with gold trim around the neck, sleeves, and sides, accompanied by the light blue shorts and socks with dark blue touches.

โWe are proud to present The Resurgens Kit to our supporters and the city of Atlantaโ said Garth Lagerwey, Atlanta United President and CEO. โOur approach with Community Kits has always been to create something that identifies with the city and reaffirms our connection with the people in it, and we believe The Resurgens Kit is the strongest example of that ambition. The design is uniquely Atlanta, and weโre excited for our players, supporters and everyone with a connection to the city to wear it with a strong sense of civic pride.โ

Some further details of the kit also include the City of Atlanta’s crest on the back under the collar. Furthermore, the collar is emblazoned with the “Resurgens” title and the years 1847 and 1865, the former being the year the city was first incorporated and the latter being the year the city began its rebuild after being torched during the Civil War.

American Family Insurance returns as the central kit sponsor, marking the 8th year of the partnership. Piedmont Healthcare also returns as the sleeve sponsor (and main kit sponsor for Atlanta United 2). Finally, the Apple TV and MLS logos display prominently on the other sleeve.

no, no, no…reminds me of a philly union kit.โwon’t be buying this one either.
I like it.โNot enough to order one with some personalized name on the back attempting to be clever, but enough that I’ll probably buy one after a couple of beers at a game.

I’m not buying one, but it looks OK.โWhile I did buy a 404 jersey, I’m kind of tired of the whole “jersey in colors that aren’t our colors” thing.โI guess 2 years from now we can expect a weird yellow or orange jersey to replace this one.โTo be fair, some of the big European teams do the exact same thing, so it’s not like Atlanta United is alone in this.
As usual, I’ll wait until it goes on sale at Christmas. But I haven’t seen it IRL yet, so I’ll reserve judgment.
