Player ratings after Atlanta’s 1-0 loss to the Fire

Atlanta United’s 1-0 loss to the Chicago Fire could have been worse. It obviously could have been better, too.

The point is that the bar for this club is so low that a 1-0 loss that should have been 3-0 or 4-0 can be perceived as progress. While yes, it was a step in the right direction after a listless 3-1 loss to the Columbus Crew, it didn’t result in three points. And for a team looking to gain any sort of momentum before losing a complete grasp on the season, that’s not good enough.

We’ll see if Atlanta can avoid a one-and-done appearance in the U.S. Open Cup as it faces Chattanooga FC in an I-75 derby on Wednesday. For now, on to the player ratings for the match against the Fire. As a reminder, here’s the ratings scale:

  • 10 – world-class performance
  • 9 – elite performance
  • 6 – average
  • 5 – slightly below average
  • 3 – well below average
  • 1 – poor in every level

No commentary on any of them? That feels unusual – but I guess it does get hard to find anything to say that hasn’t been said for months (or even years) about some of these guys.

Honestly, what’s left to say? That’s how I feel these days.

Yep, congratulations to the FO. They have made us irrelevant.
