Group G advancement scenarios
Group G is one of the wildest groups headed into their final day, with every nation able to finish in the top or bottom two places. Egypt, the only squad to win a match, could clinch first with either a win or draw (with tiebreakers in effect if Belgium wins). A loss puts Egypt in either second with a Belgium loss or third with a Belgium win.
Iran could take the top spot with a win while also beating out Belgium on any tiebreakers should they also win, or second if those tiebreakers don’t go their way. Iran could also end second or third with a draw, depending on tiebreakers should Belgium also draw. Fourth place is in the cards should Iran and Belgium both lose, and tiebreakers decide their fate.
The Belgians similarly could finish anywhere. A win over New Zealand with an Iran win, depending on tiebreakers, could put them first or second. A draw would see them second or third, should the other match end in a draw. A shocking last place finish could happen should they lose and Iran defeat Egypt.
New Zealand’s qualification hopes hinge on a victory, a win plus an Iran loss or draw lands them second in the group, otherwise a win gets them third. A loss or draw leaves them last, ending their World Cup journey.

Group H advancement scenarios
The same chaos unfolds in Group H, where every position is up for grabs between the four nations. Spain would land the top spot should they win, or even with a draw should Cabo Verde win and tiebreakers fall their way. Should Spain lose to Uruguay, a Cape Verde win would put them in third, while any other result leaves them second.
Uruguay have a shot at first should they defeat Spain and Cape Verde also wins, with tiebreakers deciding first or second. A draw with a Cape Verde draw or loss plus tiebreakers puts them second or third. A loss, combined with a Saudi Arabia win (again, depending on tiebreakers) could see them out in last place.
Cape Verde could land anywhere across the group, a win over Saudi Arabia lands them first or second should Uruguay win and tiebreakers prevail. A draw lands them second or third with a Spain-Uruguay draw with tiebreakers. A loss with a Spain win and tiebreaker defeat, and they end the day in fourth.
With a win, Saudi Arabia’s door opens to either second if Spain wins or third otherwise. A loss or draw against Cape Verde would confirm their fourth place spot.

Group I advancement scenarios
Group I is a bit more straightforward than the other two. France and Norway, each with six points, battle for the top spot in Foxborough. A France win or draw lands them the top spot, while Norway can only finish first with a win.
Senegal and Iran will have a more dire fight for survival with both finding themselves pointsless entering the final group match. A Senegal win or draw would secure third place, and then hope for the third-place rankings to fall their way. Iraq’s hope lies only in a win over Senegal, and then the other third place teams in the tournament to not knock them from the tournament.
