Atlanta United left it late once more after conceding a would-be match-winner to the Seattle Sounders in stoppage time. At the end of the day, it’s a point that doesn’t change a whole lot on the table.

On to the player ratings. As a reminder, here’s the ratings scale:

  • 10 – world-class performance
  • 9 – elite performance
  • 6 – average
  • 5 – slightly below average
  • 3 – well below average
  • 1 – poor in every level

Note: There were a couple of difficulties with the form, so Derrick Williams and Brooks Lennon were accidentally left off. For them, I’ve put their Fotmob rating.

Man of the Match

Alexey Miranchuk

Staff rating: 7 | Community rating: 6.9

Alexey gets MotM honors for this one for his late equalizer. Had both some good and bad moments in the attack, as is often the case, but his Goal of the Week candidate should be a part of his game that we’re seeing much more of. That in and of itself boosts his score.

Brad Guzan

Staff rating: 5 | Community rating: 4.4

The second goal probably shouldn’t be put on Guzan. That said, the first goal, buildup aside, might have been stopped by a younger, more agile Guzan at the near post.

Ronald Hernandez

Staff rating: 6.5 | Community rating: 6

Hernandez receives his share of criticism from Atlanta fans, but I thought he performed well on the right side against the Sounders. His long ball to Miguel Almiron, which led to Atlanta’s first goal, was spot-on.

Derrick Williams

Staff rating: 5 | Community rating: 4.5

It was a better night for Williams as he made several key defensive stops for Atlanta. However, he failed to account for Osaze de Rosario on Seattle’s second goal. I initially thought he should have marked de la Vega tighter on the first goal, but on second look think that he was hung out to dry.

Stian Gregersen

Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 4.1

A decent night for Stian in his return to the lineup for the first time in over three months. That said, as stated above, a missed duel ultimately opened the door for the Sounders’ first goal as Derrick Williams was forced into emergency defending.

Pedro Amador

Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 5.4

An up-and-down evening for Amador. He shook off a rough first half and was able to grow into the match in the second half.

Tristan Muyumba

Staff rating: 5 | Community rating: 5.35

Not a stinker of a night for Muyumba, but certainly not a great one, either. He continues to deliver inconsistent performances and occasionally attempts to do too much with the ball in possession.

Bartosz Slisz

Staff rating: 6.5 | Community rating: 6.2

Another strong performance from Slisz. He was steady, if not un-flashy, and he continues to show a fearlessness in testing the keeper from distance.

Luke Brennan

Staff rating: 6.5 | Community rating: 6.7

Brennan should have finished the evening with a goal and an assist at worst. Another case made by the 20-year-old Homegrown to get a bigger role in 2026 and beyond.

Miguel Almiron

Staff rating: 6.5 | Community rating: 6.2

Almiron did well to shake off Reed Baker-Whiting after receiving Hernandez’s upfield pass during the sequence that led to Atlanta’s opener. No secondary assist because it was an own goal, but a good amount of credit belongs to him.

Emmanuel Latte Lath

Staff rating: 6.25 | Community rating: 5.1

No goal for him against Seattle due to the deflection off Yeimar, but Latte Lath’s quickness was on display as he fed Luke Brennan to his left and took the space in front of him to get to the net.

Substitutes

Enea Mihaj (66′)

Staff rating: 5.75 | Community rating: 5.9

A good debut for the Albanian international. He gets docked because he likely could have done a little better on the Sounders’ second goal, a point he acknowledged after the match.

Jamal Thiare (66′)

Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 5

Not a great deal of involvement from what I could see. Would like to see him return to putting a few more goals on the board in his substitute role.

Saba Lobjanidze (76′)

Staff rating: 5 | Community rating: 4

A poor pass sent the Sounders on the attack and touched off the sequence that led to their second goal. Saba’s disappointing season continues.

Will Reilly (76′)

Staff rating: 6 | Community rating: 5.2

Another good, solid performance for the 22-year-old Homegrown player. Doesn’t have dazzling technical ability, but covered a good amount of ground and chipped in defensively when needed.

Brooks Lennon (90’+3)

Staff rating: 5 | Community rating: 3.4

Might be somewhat at fault for Seattle’s second goal, but remarkably harsh ratings from the community for Lennon, considering the limited action he saw.

Gregersen was easily a 7.5 in the first half. He didnt have the fitness to maintain that in the second half, but 4.1 is harsh.

I also think the staff is a bit generous for ELL’s contribution to the first goal in the buildup. Extremely fortunate to get the goal there that seems to overshadowed a night of otherwise not being clinical enough. I think the community rating is spot on there.

Lastly, while Brennan absolutely deserves more minutes, I think both the staff and community are half to 3/4 of a point too high. Less than half a point away from Miranchuk? Cmon yall.

The thing I see consistently day in and day out is ball control and those first touches. Man, it’s like everyone has 2 left feet. Get that ball to Miggy, LL, etc., and it’s like the first time they’ve ever been passed to.

And the amount of overcooked crosses/passes, ugh.

Mic

It’s because everyone is sick and tired of Lennon and just want him to leave. I hope the FO does not pick up his option.

SD2ATL

We have to stop looking at individual performances though, none of them matter if the rest of the team isn’t pulling their weight.

the one trick pony didn’t get praise? and that’s surprising how?
remarkably harsh ratings from the community” is because we’ve seen all we need to and i’d rather see Edward develop instead of a cross that hits the stratosphere.

Celtic Bhoy

I understand your point, but you asked and the community has spoken. You can’t be upset with a collective rating.

I personally do not hate the guy, he just doesn’t gel with Miggy and can’t use his left foot well (just like how Miggy rarely uses his right).

schyoo

I beg to differ on Lennon not being able to use his left foot. One of the best goals scored by Lennon is off his left foot and it was a solid strike as well.

I agree the “i rated him low because Im tired of him” logic is weak. But in limited minutes, he botched the defensive header (under very little pressure) that lead to Seattle’s second goal and offered very little positive. He absolutely deserves no higher than 4.5.

Eh I don’t necessarily disagree, but I also don’t see a problem being on the harsh end of rating all the players in general for games this season. If we had a team full of 5-7 rated players average, we wouldn’t be competing for the wooden spoon.

I decided to watch him exclusively for a quick replay. That entire ending defensive play was very bad. Poor defensive header, wasn’t prepared for the run down the line which resulted in a very dangerous cross, followed by tracking the guy but not putting a ton of pressure on him, where winger passed back for the cross on the goal. Something I noticed on rewatch: seattle’s goal would’ve been offsides if Lennon had pushed up to match the defensive line after the winger he was covering passed back. He had time to make that move too.

After that he missed a header pass for a turnover, made two back passes, generally didn’t make any effective runs into useful space for passing (despite there being some decent options for space he could’ve run into), and made one single simple forward 2 yard pass back to Miggy who had thrown it in to him.

I think a 4 is completely fair for not accomplishing anything productive, including positioning, despite the ball being on his side of the field often, and especially for actively contributing to giving up the goal that pretty much cost the game.
