It was good for about 45 minutes. And marginally good for about the first half-hour of the second half. In the end, it was the same result as Atlanta United lost to Nashville SC 2-0 on Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Atlanta is back at it on Wednesday against the New England Revolution. Although, like Tata Martino said, it’s probably not for the best that it’s at home. With that, on to the player ratings for the match against Nashville. As a reminder, here’s the ratings scale:
- 10 – world-class performance
- 9 – elite performance
- 6 – average
- 5 – slightly below average
- 3 – well below average
- 1 – poor in every level
Our coverage of Atlanta United vs. Nashville SC
Lucas Hoyos
His best performance in an Atlanta United uniform by far. Nashville might have scored a couple more without a couple of key saves. (No idea what he was thinking near the corner flag, though.)
Staff rating: 6 | Community rating: 4.1
Tomás Jacob
A bit wasteful in crossing. Actually, quite wasteful, completing 2 of his 8 crosses. Did go 4-for-4 on ground duels, though, and picked up a knock, so he’s not docked heavily at all.
Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 5.21
Elías Báez
Pretty decent defensive performance for Elías Báez, but nothing spectacular.
Staff rating: 5.75 | Community rating: 4.06
Stian Gregersen
Can’t fault him for the two goals Nashville gave up. Another steady performance for the Norwegian centerback.
Staff rating: 6 | Community rating: 5.29
Enea Mihaj
Led all players with 10 defensive contributions, completed 90% of his passes, and had four interceptions. Like Gregersen, you can’t fault him for the two goals conceded.
Staff rating: 6 | Community rating: 4.22
Matías Galarza (Man of the Match)
Another strong showing for Galarza, playing out wide with the absence of Miguel Almirón from the lineup.
Staff rating: 6.25 | Community rating: 6
Tristan Muyumba
Muyumba was decent in this one, but…0-for-7 in ground duels sticks out for all the wrong reasons.
Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 4.31
Cooper Sanchez
Not much to complain about when it comes to Sanchez. Spotted three different players coaching him up on the field, though, but as he gets more playing time, those rough edges will continue to get sanded off.
Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 5.5
Jay Fortune
I posted this to social media on Saturday:
Staff rating: 6 | Community rating: 5.8
Alexey Miranchuk
Miranchuk wasn’t bad at all (he was credited with three chances created). Like the rest of the attack, and as has been the case more often than not, he left fans wanting something more.
Staff rating: 5.25 | Community rating: 5
Emmanuel Latte Lath
Another match without a shot on goal. A giveaway in the attacking zone that led to Nashville scoring in stoppage time. The Emmanuel Latte Lath experience continues to be an awful one.
Staff rating: 3.75 | Community rating: 1.68
Fafa Picault (68’)
Created a chance!
Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 4.61
Pedro Amador (68’)
I wouldn’t mind seeing him on the wing at some point.
Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 4.89
Saba Lobjanidze (74’)
Thought he had something toward the end, but it wasn’t to be.
Staff rating: 5.5 | Community rating: 5.1
Cayman Togashi (82’)
No rating. Limited involvement in the match.
Tata Martino
Staff rating: 5 | Community rating: 4.03

They need to start CT next game.
Gotta change that headline to 2-0. I mean i get it i checked out after the first one too. Actually not even sure why i watch anymore
Genuinely “hate watching” them at this point to see how they can continuously lower the bar of ineptitude.
The community continues to be harsher in their judgment/ratings that the staff. The staff is probably more accurate, but the community’s ratings are a reflection of the growing frustration of the fans.
That’s exactly it
Id say the answer is somewhere in the middle. Last in the east and all but one player got above a 5 which is just “slightly below average”.
